How did you decide to get the caliber(s) that you have?

I started with a 22-RF which I assume (ass-u-me in regards to assumptions) most do. Military service acquainted me with the 45ACP and Bullseye of the period introduced the 38-Spl. Ventured in to handgun hunting for a brief period ushered in the 357-Mag and 44Mag/Spl. When the wonder nines became a hot topic I was inclined to shoot substantial volumes of 9mm-Luger.

Currently I mainly load 45-ACP & 9mm Luger and on occasion 38-Spl & moderately 44-Spl.

9mm - lots of really cool guns are chambered in it. Some (classic) guns are only chambered in it. Cheap plentiful ammo. Everyone uses the 9mm thus it must have something going for it.

380 - Fits in a gun that fits in my pocket otherwise probably would not have it.

45GAP - yes I know - fits a 45 caliber bullet in my favorite platform the Glock 19 (or at least as close as is possible).

I'm similar:

9mm - lots of really cool guns are chambered in it. Some (classic) guns are only chambered in it. Cheap plentiful ammo, and strong enough for defensive purposes. Everyone uses the 9mm thus it must have something going for it.

380 - Fits in a gun that fits in my pocket otherwise probably would not have it.

45ACP - .45 stopping power

Used to carry 40 S&W but that gets pretty expensive when ytou take a few classses burnig 500 or 1000 rounds. All my cary guns and most of my guns are 9mm. Do have a 1911 but that is more of "everybody has to have one situation". Got a 22 for plinking and a CZ52 for history and a Magnum 44 for I can make a lot of noise. But all the business pistols are 9mm.

My first seven handguns were all revolvers & my 17 y/o nephew likes to go to the range with me.
So I figured at least one of my guns should be a semi-auto.

I was broke but still wanted a semi-auto toy so I bought a 9mm.
It was cheap.

(I guess that's not much of a reason, but that's it)

Vietnam and 26 years of Military Service

A .45 is a killing round. I have used it many times in that roll. I have shot many with this caliber and they do not recover!

OK

Before anyone asks I was in the 7th Marine Expeditionary Force in DaNang and spent months in the Ah Shau Valley. If you want to argue please do it elsewhere!!

I chose .45 for 2 reasons. The first reason being is a .45, and that's pretty self explanatory. haha.

The second reason being I had heard CT had been considering making 10+ round mags a class d felony to own. So a .45 was a obvious choice to have a powerful round that didn't come with a ton of rounds to a mag from the factory.

9mm - 9mm ammo is cheap. The cheaper ammo is, the more I shoot it. The more I shoot a particular caliber, the better I shoot it. The better I shoot it, the more effective it becomes.
