Recently I've had the pleasure of applying for my Utah concealed carry permit, but living in NJ the closest place to me to fill out an application was a two hour drive to Connecticut. I was thinking about how terrific a service this guy was doing for me and I'd like to do the same thing. The only problem is I have absolutely no idea where to start. I imagine I'd have to become a notary and, of course, have my Utah CCP. How would I go about becoming a certified instructor? Am I allowed to certify in NJ? What kind of instruction do I need? If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate getting a start on this. Thank you guys.

To become a Utah instructor is a simple process.

1. first, become an NRA instructor (you need some secondary certification before applying to Utah)

2. attend an instructor's class in Utah (no option...must be in Utah) and pass a test on basic safety and their law (open book...not a problem).

3. pay them their application fee ...sit back and wait for approval...about 10 days.

4. done, repeat #2 and # 3 again in 3 years

5. there are many many Utah instructors, including at least 4 in NJ

NOTE: Given your nearness to FL and that the FL permit is nearly as good as Utah, and that any NRA class meets FL requirements, you might (from a business point of view) be better off just getting NRA instructor status and doing classes for the FL permit.
