So I've read about how people keep their HD guns in their nightstands or by their beds or whatever. How EXACTLY do you keep them around- just leave it in an unlocked drawer, standing up by the bed, under the bed, etc?

MY HD is my CCW (s)
so one or both are not left "lying around" during the day...thats what a small safe that is hidden is for. Being more concerned with entering or leaving best for me to have on person ( hence CCW).

"Never know the when or where of next encounter"-CR Sam is a right smart fellow...so I carry

On the stand right beside the phone. Neither is in plain sight, but easily reachable from bed.

My pistol is locked up durring the day when I'm at work, since I can't CCW right now (but CCW at work is a big no no anyway). But when I'm home its either on my hip or within easy grabbing distance.

My bedroom already looks like an armory. HD is a BHP on the floor next to the bed, w/ Pelican Black Knight M-6 eyeball barbecuer and phone.
No I've never answered the HD gun when the phone rang in the night.:D

Two 1911s (no worries about putting the wrong mag in the wrong pistol) locked in a desk drawer (I sleep-walk about 3-4x a year, that I know of, so I keep the drawer locked when I sleep with the keys sitting on top of the desk) in my bedroom with a few mags, since my gun safe is in the guest room with all the long guns.

Leave it in the closet, ready to go. I just leave the door closed and guests are none the wiser.

I have a few guns about the house. Glock in the nighstand pocket, M1 Carbine & Rem 870 in cabinet beside that, Colt 1911 in drawer in office. Now where can I hide my Taurus PT92? I have it hidden in the garage right now, but I might need to find it a place in the living room.

I usually keep a hot 1911 under my pillow or under the bedside next to me. When I kept it stored safely I was unable to find the magazine, insert it, rack the slide and aquire the target before a couple of punks beat me in the head with a four cell maglite and took it from me. I am lucky to be alive, I am fortunate I wasn't shot that night. It will be a different outcome if there ever is a "next time" .:cuss: PUNKS !

My 1911-A1 is my "Bedside Table Companion" at night. When not at home, since we STILL don't have CCW in Ohio, it is the 'Closet Safe Guardian".

Wow, tough break Carlos C. Were you able to recover your weapon? Any convictions?

Hey foghorn, what city are you from? I'm from Highland Heights, though I'm rarely there between school and co-op.

Anyway, I have a Mossberg 500 that I keep between my bed and the wall. I keep the safety on with the magazine full but chamber empty.

When I'm asleep...under my pillow....cocked and locked......

When I'm awake.....I ain't tellin' :p

Oly, The two men were apprehended and I got the weapon back approximately six months later after proving ownership to the county sheriff. I do not know if the men were convicted, I did not follow the case.
But...........IF they come back, I've got something for their @$$ !!!!!!!!:fire:

Mossberg 500 - leaning against the wall on the other side of the nightstand

S&W 686 - in nightstand drawer

P32 - next to 686 in nightstand drawer

I use the cheap version of the GunVault - the Canon minivault. Works great. Can't afford to leave guns around the house with little ones around.

BHP in mini GunVault by my bed. My carry J-frame in a "ChildSafe" box in the den. The GunVault is really a good design.
