How do you store your HD gun?

Colt king cobra with some of my special handloads on the nightstand in holster & cartridge belt and the 11/87 ready to rock & roll above the bed on a rack.

Edited for daytime storage-

daytime storage , shotgun stays put and the colt goes back to a safe place

Browning HP in the dresser drawer cocked & locked 15+1 of 9mm NATO ready to rock and a few spare 15 rounders as backup. I also have a spare 13 round Belgian mag that I keep exclusively for HD in a mag pouch that clips on so I can move around with a spare without have to put my belt on. I don't have a clip on open top holster for the BHP yet, but eventually I'll get to that  :D

The house is pretty creaky upstairs and I'd wake up easily if somebody busted in or picked the lock. They could rush straight downstairs from the backdoor and avoid the creeky floorboards, but the backdoor opens pretty loudly, the steps are creaky and it's a little ways to my sleeping room. I highly doubt that's the first place they'd go.

Main HD gun is my Winchester model 94 30-30 in the closet. I do keep it in the soft zippered gun case, but I figure if I can't get it out before somebody comes knocking, I'll already have my HP in hand anyways and they can deal with that. 7 in the tube, 9 in the ammo sleeve, loaded with Winchester 30-30 Power Point Plus +P, they approach .308 power. My pocket guns are all loaded and in my other dresser drawer.

Double D cell flashlight under the bed and Surefire E2E in the dresser drawer.

I have my contacts on a table in front of my bed and also have my glasses under my bed next to the flashlight in case I can't get my contacts in.

I think my first instinct would be grab the HP and extra mag, then get my contacts in then put on my pants and then grab the 30-30 and flashlight, and go patrolling with rifle and sidearm. Actually I probably wouldn't even take the flashlight.

Have a Norinco 9mm in the nightstand drawer. PPK .32 in the computer desk drawer. Also a ruger 89dc under the bed. On the weekends that I have my son their all trigger locked and locked in their cases with the ammo stored somewhere else durning the day.

Kind of redundant, don't you think? Sounds like you want to be responsible, but you really should have something around, if anything a small piece like a Kel-Tec PT380 you can pocket carry when your son is there. That way if you need something fast (not unlikely) you can use that.

"Oly, The two men were apprehended and I got the weapon back approximately six months later after proving ownership to the county sheriff. I do not know if the men were convicted, I did not follow the case."

Carlos C., Im glad to hear that your weapon was recovered at least. It just sickens me to know that there are those in our society and government who would deny us the means to defend ourselves and families from scum like this.

In a holster mounted to the bottom of the bed while I sleep, locked up while at work because of the no firearms policy:banghead:

Sure you don't want to stop for a bite to eat and maybe a haircut?

My S&W 642 & S&W M60 are both kept loaded in a Gunvault during the day. When I come home, one or the other is worn IWB. Then, at night, it takes its place on the bedstand.

I sleep with my Bull Dog !

A few steps from the bed to the walk-in closet, where I keep my loaded HK USP9C in the GunVault. Both magazines have 9 rounds of 124gr +P GDs. Beneath is a trigger locked 870 with 5 low-recoil 00 nearby, with access to an E2E. I also have relatively quick access to my GP100 which has 2 speedloaders ready and loaded with Winchester "stuff."
A KaBar 1214, 4-cell MagLite and 2 dozen teeth get me to the closet.

My CCW Glock 17 is on my person or on the nightstand when I'm in bed. My Remington 870 and Ruger Mini-14 are on a gun rack beside the bed, loaded, safety off and not locked.

All other firearms are stored in safes. The majority of the ones in the safes are stored loaded also.

I have kids in the house so I use a push button combo safe ( similar to GunSafe) under the bed. Takes a couple extra seconds to acquire my 1911 but I wouldn't do it any other way.

IMHO, kids finding loaded, unlocked guns are not just a tragedy, they're one of the gravest threats to our right to keep and bear arms.

pistol grip 12 ga loaded, safe, leaning against dresser about 1 ft from my head, or laying just under the side of the bed.

no kiddies running around, no one to mess with the guns, so as long as I obey the rules, everything is ok.

12 gague Remington 870 Marine Magum = you guess?

.45 caliber SIG-Sauer P220A = under my pillow

6" barrel Smith & Wesson 686 .357 magnum = guest bedroom

2" barrel Smith & Wesson 60 .38 special = where I can get to it

.380 ACP Walther PPK = where my daughter can get to it

2" Rossi .38 special = near my wife's belonging's

9m/m SIG-Sauer P228 = close by

For security reasons I REFUSE to go any further!:uhoh: :D

Greeting's WonderNine-

Nope! I wouldn't have it any other way. You see, over
the course of the last 20+ year's I've had too do a
lot of thing's to people that most folk's don't like!:(
But it was in the line of duty and lawful; and I acted
under the color of law. With that said, most perp's
don't forget; and hold a grudge long after the scenario
is resolved. And the funny thing is, they will reconize
you; long before you can reconize them!:uhoh: So, I
keep that thought in the back of my head; and I try
to stay one step ahead of the game.

And then again, I'm kind'a a weird guy. I don't drink,
smoke, or use drug's. I don't frequent low life type
establishments, or particulary like large crowds (of
course University Of Tennessee Football is a really
big exception!). I don't like vistor's to my residence
showing up unannounced (there is nothing like a
courtesy call)! I don't like door-to-door solicitation;
as most salesman are out for themselves, or members
of that something for nothing crowd.

In closing, yeah I stay prepared; all the damn time!:D
I wouldn't and won't change a thing my friend.

No place to introduce myself so I'll do it here in my first post.

Hello.

I keep two customized Kimber Pro Carry .45ACP's, one an SLE, the other an HD II. in the cubby in the headboard of our bead just above my head, when not carrying one or the other. They lie in the open for easy and quick reach should the need arise. A highly customized S&W M10 4" HB .38SPL stays in the cubby of the headboard above my wife's head. It lies in a plastic gun box, closed but not latched.

;)

Shotgun under the bed.

LW Commander usually under a couple of gun info-magazines in a box next to the bed. During the day the LW Commander is no more than a few feet away.

I have two multi vaults on two nightstands next to my bed. On my side, is a Sig 220 round in the chamber, hammer down. Mag is downloaded to 4 rounds to save my springs. A spare mag is also available with 4 rounds. Below that is my Kimber Tactical with a round in the chamber, 4 rounds in the mag, safety on, spare mag with 4 in the mag. Wifes side, Sig 226 round in the chamber, hammer down, mag has 5 rounds loaded. Likewise same scenario for Sig 2340. 1 spare each. 20 feet away in master closet in safe is a 870Marine with one in the pipe, downloaded with 3 in the tube, sidesaddle loaded with 6 and speedfeed stock with 2 additional rounds. Bandolier with 50 00 rounds in the safe as well.
