How (gunwise) are you celebrating The 4th?

Well I'm working so I'll be carrying my Glock in it's holster on my duty belt. And no doubt I'll be responding to a gazillion fireworks complaints. Oh well at least I'll get holiday pay.:(:D

"Hey you kids knock that off, WHOA! Where'd you get THOSE!?! ..

...Can you get any more?"

That's how it'd go for me.;)

Firecrackers are illegal here--the serfs of Illinois may not engage in ritualized revolutionary activity

Can Illinois even call itself a state anymore? I mean seriously they dont allow anything except breathing there. :cuss:

So I guess it would be fitting that they did not celebrate anything resembling Independence including the 4th of July. That might give its people false hope..................... :barf:

Chabot Gun Club's public range is open for the 4th so I'll be doing range time with one of the rifles that helped us maintain our freedom--M1 Garand--and thinking about those that maintain our freedom.

As a "last hurrah" before we move out to the blueridge, my wife is insisting that we go "do" the 4'th in DC.

So I'm going to spend this 4'th celebrating "independence" in a city that no longer understands what that's all about. :banghead:

Now AZ6--discharging my rifle is perfectly legal in my corner of IL. It's the firecrackers that are illegal. So, if anyone has a beef about me lighting firecrackers they can take it up (if they so desire) with the wild eyed me brandishing two M-1's w/ fixed bayonets and whatever else I feel like. I might be buck naked save for my web gear and boots--it's the 4th after all.

Those not wanting to join in the sacred dance are well advised that the circle is drawn---many will come to join as we begin the 232nd year of the grand experiment.

No Shooting, but

Will have family over for food, beverages, swimming, and music.

I will start a tradition this year, thanks to information I have discovered on this forum>

I am going to read Dennis Bateman's Metal and Wood aloud to my family and guests.

Too many times we forget the actual meaning of the holidays.

I hope the complaints are mostly "They're using the wrong side of the hill -- we can barely see 'em!" or "They've already stopped, and it's only 9:15!"

And if you must respond to the shadenfreude plaints of prissy, backbiting, joyless, sanctimonious, carping, kvetching, busybody, sourpuss barnacles, I hope your attitude is similar to that of the handful of cops who've come to relay "neighbor" complaints (actually, more than a thousand feet away, across a river) to my father, brother and I as we celebrated the 4th; typically, they've apologized for the silliness, but pointed out that when a complaint is received, they're obligated to respond to it, and would we please skedaddle ... after just a few more shots. After all, the cops with actual jurisdiction on this side of the river might get a bug in their bonnet and ask us to stop with more authority.

I live in NJ. I think I'll go out in the back yard, fire off a few rounds from my Ruger Mark II Assault Weapon, and get arrested. :D

Pastor is marrying off his last daughter on 07/07/07. He was wondering to me what to do for a bachelours party.

I'm hosting the party at the local range, with a couple of .22 rifles, a couple of .50 Hawkens, a couple of C&B pistols, an 03A3, an 8mm Mauser in Scout configuration, a P85 and a Dan Wesson .357. That should keep them busy for a little while. The plan is to start at 08:00 and stop when we run out of ammo.

As an added bonus, the not-yet-groom is a new shooter, so I get to hold my class on safety and manual of arms. The one which starts, "See the hole in the end of those weapons? There is a sharp, pointy thing inside of it which comes out faster than you can see. You can put an eye out with that...from a loooong ways away." :D

Pops

duct tape and certain hand held sparkly fireworks to kill the skeeters of course

at the range

I bought a 686 here on the THR classifieds and it came last week. Unfortunately, some events came up and I did not get to the range this past weekend, so I decided to shoot it for the first time on the 4th, along with some others. :)

Aside from that, I plan on burning some elk on a very hot grill! ;)

The usual. Taking a bang stick or three (illegal in Daleygrad), including the ugliest of Ugly Black Rifles, over to the folks'. After lunch, bro. & I + whoever else wants to will head back to Dad's back 40 and blast away until we're tired of it.

BTW, real fireworks are illegal in Illinois. Who'd a thunk it? :scrutiny: But there's a fireworks store just over the WI line in Beloit. ;)

hmmm...

...hopefully with a new 6920...and 12ga...and 38Super...and whatever else the gang brings along...
Definately gonna' pop some caps though...Maybe in the evening, then hang around up above Garden Of The Gods and watch the fireworks down below...

That's my starter plan anyway...

I'll start with my M44 and start working through the case of Czech silvertip I got about a year ago.

Once my shoulder decides that's enough I'll start chuck lead with the smaller stuff.

I intend to head over to IL to my favorite indoor shooting range who, btw, is having an all week 4th of July sale, and spend some time shooting something on the range.:D Wednesday happens to be $1 rental day instead of the $5 I'd usually pay as a member.

All of IL isn't bad, once you get south of Springfield.:) The only bad thing is once I get my CCW permit here in Missouri I'll have to stash whatever I'm carrying when I go over to IL to shoot, either in Belleville or the Olin range in East Alton.
