After years of hearing my dad complain about not having a 22lr revolver I bought a 6inch 617 for his birthday in Sept. Since I got it I have hand polished every square inch with Mothers polish for endless hours. To be honest I was not at all impressed with the finish when i received it. I ordered a shooters pack from Wolff Springs with a reduced power mainspring (ribbed) and the variety pack of rebound slide springs. I disassembled that bad boy tonight, cleaned it out and lightly stoned all contact surfaces with my Arkansas stones to smooth things out. It was especially bad in the rebound spring bracket area. I dropped in a 13lb rebound spring, and the ribbed mainspring, lubed with 5w-30 Mobil 1 synthetic, assembled and WOW. Single action and double are so easy and smooth, no creep or grit. I don't have a trigger gauge to measure before and after but wow. Next step? will the damn thing fire? Federals and CCI's no problem and that's good enough for me So you can run 13lb rebound springs and reduced power mainsprings with rimfires.
