White reading the "Why Own a 1911" I noticed a lot of the posts had reference to the amount of 1911s they own.

How many do you own? Half of my pistol collection is 1911s and BHPs.

*Edit, I was curious about those that liked and owned the platform, I thought it went without saying haters did not own any, thats why zero is not an option. I apologize for making anyone feel left out.

Right now, I only have one. I do intend, though, to add at least one more at some point.

I currently have 3 and have plans for, 4. I have 3 Springfield Armory pistols. a older one that's mid way between a Mil Spec and a GI. How it came from the factory. a later Mil Spec that I've modded to add a few nice features, beaver tail, flat trigger, etc, and a 2010 Ultra Compact Loaded. It conceals VERY nice. The 4th will be a Commander / Champion, with a bobbed tail. What brand depends on which one I find. Maybe a Dan Wesson or Ed Brown direct from them as configured. Or I'll find one and bob the tail myself.

just one for now to satisfy the craving for a 1911... but will be adding one or two in the future for sure

None, I'm more into innovatoin and progress than nostalgia. I would like to own one for collector value but its low on my list.

That is exactly WHY you should own a 1911. When you talk about a pistol that made the MOST innovation and the BIGGEST leap forward, progress it is the 1911. Granted nothing really new to that design since, but when you look at all the other auto's out there, they have only made very small steps away from the design. Tuner will tell you over and over and over ;) that Browning's fingerprints are all over the design of the Glock.

Zip. Zilch. Nada.

I'll probably buy the Ruger one day and it might be the only and last one I ever buy. Just to have really.

Lacking an applicable option in the poll, I voted 9.

Zero, but that'll change one of these days. Finite resources and all that...

Six at the moment. Three or four more that I traded or sold. I say "three or four" because one was an LDA, which looked like a 1911.

I have only one. So far. On the want list: a USGI 1911A1 (preferably a Colt) and something in .38 Super.

Right now, three, all Colt Commanders. Over the years, 35-40 of various makes and models.

Colts and GI guns were always the best bet and most reliable.

The aggravation of dealing with most of the others, is why I gave up on them. I wouldnt take a new Springfield or Kimber if you gave it to me.

Right now I have 12 1911s - 5 Colts, 2 Detonics, 1 Springfield, 1 S&W, 1 Para Ordnance, 1 GSG .22, and an AMT Automag V (think 1911 on 'roids). The number rises and falls from time to time.

None.

Had one when I was a soldier, had one as a civilian when I was young and had just gotten out of the Army, but I have no need for a 1911 these days.
There are better handguns out there IMO.

I have two a DW and a SA Loaded. I just recently got into AR10's or I would have more 1911s.
