How many actually carry .357 in their .357 carry piece?

357's in my .357?

.38 Spl (135-grain GD) in my M60 -- I do live in California, after all. My other revolver (M686), in the safe -- it's loaded for bear, 180-grain JHP's.

"Champagne to my true friends and true pain to my sham friends."

"Never wrestle with a pig: you both get dirty, but only the pig enjoys it."

"As long you're still looking at the green side of the grass, it's a good day."

"So many people want to enjoy the life we enjoy here in the U.S. without doing their share to protect it. And then they want to live off the efforts of others. They want to bad mouth the same people who are protecting their right to do so."

I don't normally carry a .357. Its very rare that I do, but it has happened. In the winter time just for fun I've carried a 6" 686 in a shoulder holster under my coat.. just because I could. I'll occasionally ccw with a 4" k-frame or 686, also just for the heck of it. When I have carried them, I did so loaded up with .357s not .38s.

5 rounds of .357 loaded in a j frame, with a speed loader of .38 +p for faster reloading.

Call me a sissy. 38 +P Hydra Shoks in my 2 inch 357. Its my bedside gun, and if used, it will likely be in my house. I think it'll give me a faster recovery time for followup shots.

3" SP 101
Right now: 125 gr .38 +p for HD

Soon, I hope, Buffalo bore 158 gr heavy .38 +p pushing light magnum ballistics: Ruger SP101, 3 inch—1143 fps (458 ft. lbs.)

On the trail: 158 gr HP .357's

38's in a 357 is kind of like kissing your sister, sure you're getting kissed, but it just ain't the same! :neener:

I usually go with a hot regular .38 or .38+P, because I like having ammo that can go in either my .38 snub or .357 without a second thought.

I only specifically go with .357 when I'm out in the woods. Generally I try very hard to avoid non-woods situations and locales where I would feel that I desparately needed .357 over a hot .38 Special.

IN my Taurus Total Ti 651 snubby (think S&W Bodyguard) I carry .357mag Winchester 180gr Partition Gold Hollow Points.

They shoot to POA, group well, and are much less dramatic than 125gr .357mags.

1000fps outta my snubby.

My usual practice round is a mild/mid handload using a 158gr LSWC backed by Trail Boss in a .357mag case.

My .357s are carried with whatever flavor of 125 JHPs I have on hand. (Usually Remington).

.38

We can't carry in Illinois, but I'd stay with .38 ammo to be better able to hit what I'm aiming at. Maybe if I were scared of bears, I'd upgrade to bigger guns & ammo.

I do - Fed HydroShoks in my SP101 - but I carry that gun very little.

Instead, I usually carry a S&W 642 with .38+P. So much lighter & easy to deal with....

Only .357's,

I carry whatever .357 mags. I have handy.
It's mostly 145 gr. Win. Silvertips.
But it might well be WWB 125 gr. HP's.
Or, it might be 110 gr. WWB JHP's.
But it is always .357 magnums, all day, every day.
That's why I bought a .357 Magnum.

There's just no reason to carry anything less.
