How many magazines?

Granted my gun is mainly for range time, but I keep one loaded with JHP and 2 empty. If I need more than one loaded 15 rounder, I should have brought a knife and saved $15. The only reason i have 3 is because the new gen 4 glockss come with three. If I bought a gen 3, I would only have 2.

The thread is a little dated, but the question is a valid one for a new reason: the renewed disingenuous whining about needing legislation banning "hi capacity" magazines because "anything that holds more than 10 is designed for the sole purpose of killing lots of people as quickly as possible." I'm not a panic hoarder but have found myself somewhat building up my supplies of "high capacity" magazines (15-20 rounds depending on the gun) so I'll have spares if they suddenly become hard to find.

I only need one bullet, why would I need any more than one magazine to load that single bullet?

I don't "collect" guns (aka "safe queens") so I go with 6 magazines per gun. That way I have plenty of spares and its easy to load up up to 50-100 rounds (depending on the capacity) per gun when I go to the range.
