How many rounds should I bring to a USPSA match for Production division? Is there an average for this division?

Thanks

Bring 150% of what the stated round count is.

If no round count in stated, I'd say you are safe with 200 rounds for any local match. They generally won't go more than 150, most times 100.

The round count won't vary between divisions. They all shoot the same course.

Major matches are different. For instance, I just finished shooting the nationals. The minimum round count was 306. I brought 450, and I ended up shooting 318 of it.

The advantage to shooting Production is that you can shoot 9MM, and save money. Classifications classes keep things relatively equal.

Seeds, every match is a custom creation that changes every month. What Rob said is my best advice too--bring 150% of what the listed round count is, and if it's heavy on steel, bring 200%. <g>

Always bring twice the stated round count.

For on the belt, 4 magazines is minimum, 5 is better.

I haven't been doing these competitions for a long time, but 200 rounds has always been more than enough for the local matches I've shot. I also wear four magazines on the belt, plus a 5th magazine to start with. If you are shooting production (10 round limit) I'd definitely bring five magazines!

I bring 150%. Most I've ever seen is when a shooter had to do two reshoots at a 5 stage match. He actually did run out of ammo and I gave him some of my factory stuff.

That's the thing, if you are shooting 9mm, .40, or .45, chances are that someone will let you have/borrow ammo if you need it. It might be reloads (scary), but you'll have ammo. Hell, I've even seen people offer entire guns, mags, belts, and ammo to folks who forgot or had other gear issues.

What a great sport.

depending on the number of stages..
our local matches 200 is a good number..
extra shots, re-shoots, etc.

for major matches..I tend to bring twice the round count of the match.
things just seem to happen.

Worst case scenario.

Theoretically stages are not permitted to be over 32 rounds. (some local clubs take a level 1 exemption on this from time to time).

(number of stages * 32 + 32)*1.1 should cover you as a general rule if you have to guess, or they don't provide a timely round count. Thats enough to shoot every stage maxed out, get one reshoot, and miss one in ten shots. That forumula is a bit of overkill BTW unless your club is obsessed with 32 round stages to force open shooters to reload.

However, whatever match you are attending should have a recommended amount of ammo to bring. It is not division dependent. The only thing division dependent is nuber of mags to have on you. For production, you need 4 minimum, I recommend 5, and occasionally you will hit a bizarre stage that requires 6 to shoot most efficiently, but not to finish the course of fire.

I've have heard the experienced guys in USPSA Northwest Section tell newbies to bring 300 rounds to local matches and a bit more to the bigger ones.

That's what I bring. Haven't run out yet.

200 is more than enough for local matches here. I'm a believer in having "TOO MUCH AMMO" and "TOO MANY MAGS"

If there's a Texas Star I might need a few more rounds. :)
