All the guns they ever bought?

I read here where it seems people switch/buy-sell/trade their guns like a trip to the grocery store.

I have not the money or desire to do so, but I do enjoy reading the posts. I do get lost in the alphabet descriptions of guns...XYZ2G or whatever. I still have all I ever bought, which are just a few. I just wondered if I am an anacronism.

All of them.

I've never had a large inventory, the ones i bought were evaluated thoroughly as to need and continue serving their intended role. Two are gifts... one quite sentimental, the other a surprisingly good shooter of ill repute.

I’ve only sold 2 guns in my life. And traded 1. Sold a 22 Mag and a 22lr. And traded a Beretta to buy an XD. Past that, I have them all. And don’t plan on ever getting rid of any more.

I still own roughly 1/4 of what I have acquired over the years. If I didn't enjoy it, it went on. What I still have, I have every intention of keeping, but I make no guarantees. I have never sold a gun simply because I needed money. It has always been because I could no longer see myself enjoying it, and could put the funds toward something I wanted more.

I could never remember the dozens that have come and gone. There's a few I wish I didn't let go. Still have my first shotgun (870 wingmaster 410) and handgun (S&W 19).

Still have my first rifle, a Type 99 Arisaka, mostly because its not worth anything.

All the others went away during the Big R '07-'10- lost my job- twice- and the kids were hungry.

Have slowly built up my arsenal to prerecession levels. Miss my first handgun the most, a police trade in M681- it was the last to go.

I have all but a couple.
Traded wood stocked Winchester SX3 that didn't fit for the same gun with a synthetic stock.
Had a Ruger LC9 that I traded, horrible trigger.

No. I can think of 9 off hand that I got rid of because they didn't work out for one reason or another.

I've only sold one(Shield PC 9mm) to free up some $$ for a model 10 and regret selling it. I should have bought the model 10 and kept the Shield. Now I'm kicking myself for selling a gun I needed for a gun I wanted.

I’ve kept all the family guns, and the gift guns. There are a couple that are pretty special to me because of work I’ve put into them that I don’t want to let go of (they aren’t worth anything anyhow). I’ve sold or traded the others as necessary to get me into what I do want.

I've only gotten rid of two.

One was gifted (rather I confiscated from my brother) old 12ga shotgun. I gave it back when my nephew started hunting. Man i miss that old gun!

Another was a cheapo single shot rifle I didn't like so I sold it to my brother. I'll probably end up giving him my old muzzleloader too. All in all, I have every gun I've ever purchased on my own except that single shot.

My buddy is terrible at selling stuff. He will buy a handgun cause its new on the market and maybe put a box or two through it and sell it and buy something else. Buy an AR15 and sink a ton of $ into it and now selling it. Buys a couple handguns cause of good deals and now selling them all. I would bet he's purchased and sold 15 guns in the 10yrs I've known him.

I’ve owned over 100 and only have 10 that have never gone away. I have 35 total now. There was a time when I either had to sell or trade a gun to get a new one. I remember having to sell a Remington VSF and Glock 26 to buy a washer. There were some that I truly regret selling (HK P7, Colt Python, Cooper Phoenix in 308, CZ 453 Varmint, Les Baer 45, just to name a few)

You've never had a lemon? One that had some un-fixable problem? I try to keep most of them, but I've sent a few packing for functional reasons, (always with full disclosure) or heartbreakingly, financial ones. My 'gun collection' has more than once bought a needed vehicle, or paid utility bills.

I don’t, some I couldn’t get rid of fast enough and can think of more than a few I should get rid of.

I like guns, just not all of them and some I had to own to figure out that I didn’t like them.

Hi...
I had to sell several firearms during a divorce about 30 years ago.
I did manage to keep a few of the ones I had from before that divorce. I have bought new guns of a few of the models that I had to sell but I still wish I still had the original examples.
Since that divorce, I have only sold one gun a Taurus .357Mag revolver that was horribly inaccurate. I traded it when I bought my Dan Wesson .375Supermag plus about $100. That was a pretty decent deal, IMHO
30 years later, I have more than 50 firearms and even though I am now retired, I am still looking to acquire more.
I have bought quite a few fireams over the last 15 years or so that were given as gifts to my son. He will also have inherit all of my guns when I die, so they will stay in the family.

Yea divorce hurt my collection also!

I will say that while I have gotten rid of numerous guns, it's always been because something about those guns didn't suit me.

What I absolutely will not do is sell off guns I do like or that I do shoot well in order to fund something I "want more". I think that will only lead to regret and longing for the gun I liked but let go. If I don't care for some aspect of the gun, it's an easy decision.
