How much should it cost to have a gunsmith re-blue a shotgun? I've got an Ithaca 37 Featherlight that needs some TLC.

thanks

danthegunman is on the money, more prep work and type of finish makes all the difference in cost, usually a matt finish is cheaper. I have one I had parkerized which came out very nice, it cost about the same. now I found the material from Brownell's I can do it myself.

thats about right. you can usually save a little on cost if you do all the prep yourself. especially if you want a polished finish. smiths charge a lot to buff your gun :)

I don't like people doing the prep work for me, it usually makes more work for me. They don't have the training to polish the metal without damaging sharp edges and elongating the screw holes, they usually polish the action with a buffing wheel and leave groves in the flats. Send the gun to the finisher intact without the furniture.
