I now carry a small auto as my EDC. I feel the need to clean it lightly once a week to make sure pocket lint or whatever does not impede its function.

I was carrying a 442 and almost never cleaned it unless I had shot it.

Shoot it at least once a month, clean it the same day. It stays pretty clean under the dust cover. I guess it never goes back in its place dirty.

Since I shoot whatever I am carrying about once a week, I guess you can do the math...:)

Its a Glock...I only clean it when I'm bored and have nothing better to do...unless you count blowing it out with an air hose, I do that about once a week to keep the dust out of it.

When I'm carrying I examine the gun at least once. I clean it when the examination shows that it needs attention. A fixed schedule is unnecessary.

Never...because you said besides after shooting it and I shoot it at a minimum once a month is not a week, never I guess.

+1. I shoot enough and clean it after. I'll occasionally blow the lint out if my 642 barrel if I haven't shot it in a while.

Once or twice a year, or if it needs it. If I haven't shot them, they dont get cleaned much, other than a dust off and some oil on the working parts if they need it. Mostly they are dry on the outside, as oil attacts dust.

I shoot the .45 Blackhawk a lot, and it gets flanneled every time (rarely needs more to get clean from the Hard-cast loads)

The .40 M&P gets shot quite a bit less... but cleaned about every 10 days to keep it free of lint.

It's amazing how much fuzz can build up just walking around.

Never if I haven't shot it.

I WILL wipe it down and re-oil it once every week or so, I don't consider that cleaning.

Depends. Pocket gun? When it gets pocket stuff in it. Holster gun? Whenever it looks like it needs cleaning.
