I normally clean my guns rite after any amounts shots fired but I'm starting to shoot more & more often. just a simple question. I am very interested in your answer and it will help me. How often do you clean ur glock???

My Glock 17 is my constant companion. Therefore, if I shoot it, I clean it as soon as I get home.

Dependable is as dependable does.

Every time I shoot them.

Though I once met a Glock armorer who hates cleaning guns. His advice to me was "Clean them when they start to get your hands dirty."

Every time I shoot it. It would be my constant companion, but working on a federal installation means that's a no-go.

A better question might be how often (or if ever) you have detail stripped your Glock?

At what round count to you start changing parts out? I'm sitting pretty close to 10k, and I figure I am due for something, at the very least new mags.

Whenever I'm in the mood and have time. Sometimes it's right after a trip to a range (as little as 100-200 rounds) and sometimes as long as 1-2K rounds. As long as it lubed properly a little grime isn't going to stop a glock from running or cause malfunctions.
Heck, I know a guy that ran 13K+ rounds through his M&P before cleaning. This was the dirtiest gun I've ever seen. During that few month period he only lubed the gun a few times and never had one failure. While this isn't something you should do with your carry gun, it just goes to show you if you have a good gun, a little bit of crap isn't likely to cause failures.

However, dirty mags can lead to problems from being dropped in the dirt, mud, etc. That's why it's important to have separate mags for training and carrying.

Every 1K. I did wipe mine down a week ago when I put a new sight on the front. Still had about 300 rounds to go do I do nto feel too bad.

I clean mine after shooting. Its not so much that I think it needs it. Its my carry gun and its like how your mother always warned you about wearing clean underwear in case you go to the hospital. I'd hate to be stopped and have a dirty weapon. Worst case is a cop asking about a recently fired weapon and it goes down to being sneered at by some cop for not cleaning your weapon.

In my experience, the consensus around these sites is: most people believe the guns don't need to be cleaned after each use, but most people clean 'em after each use.

A lot of people read/see various Glock torture tests/youtube videos and may think Glocks don't need cleaning or lube to function properly.

Can it be done (Fire tens of thousands of rounds without cleaning/lubing)? - Yes, as demonstrated time after time.

Should it be done? - I don't. My range sessions have run up to 2000-4000 rounds on a Glock. Although I have inspected the field stripped parts and lubed, it worked well without cleaning.

I always clean after each range session regardless of the pistol used (average 200-500+ rounds per pistol).

Like most of the others here, I clean my pistol after every shooting session, regardless of the make and model of the pistol.

I also clean my hand-tools and power-tools after every use.

Every time I shoot it.
Honestly, it takes 5 seconds to field strip and a minute or two to wipe it down with some CLP, why not clean it?

After shooting 100-200 rounds my Glocks are no where near dirty. As I've gotten older my cleaning frequencies have lessened. I suppose if I had a ccw weapon I would keep it much cleaner.

Cleaning after every range session (a few hundred rounds) is a waste of time in my opinion. Especially a Glock.......Now my 1911, that's a different story.

My IDPA and USPSA pistols get cleaned the day before a match only.
My carry pistols get cleaned after each range session. If I come out on the short end of the stick some day I dont want it to be due to an equiptment failure that mabe could have been avoided.just saying.
Bob.

As with all guns, I clean my Glock after I return from shooting it. Just because the design is a little more tolerant than some of less than perfect maintenance, doesn't mean you should tempt fate.

Nah, you don't ever have to clean your Glock.

It's not like it is more likely to fail to go into battery completely and blow all your fingers off.
It's not likely that the barrel will foul badly and overpressure and blow all your fingers off or anything.

Dirty=reliability. It has to be reliable if it fired enough rounds to get dirty right?

My Glock 23 runs best when it's filled with sand. I only carry it after it's been buried for 3 weeks. Have to break pistols in ya know. Pocket lint is a great lube for the Glocks rails.

Hey,if you do lose a finger. Ask your doc if you can keep it. It'll make a great lube oil application tool.

Follow the manual.

1)When new.

2)After every firing session.

3)At least once a month.

4)More often when needed (exposed to rain/mud/sand/Etc.)

Even if you're lazy, be sure to lubricate the connector/trigger bar interface at least once a month!

Just like ANY gun I own, as soon as I get home from cleaning it. Doesn't matter how many shots I put through it

For example, my Sunday range trip was 500 rounds through my Buck Mark and a mere 20 rounds through my TCP. I cleaned them both when I got home, even though the TCP had next to nothing for gunk in it
