I have a gen 4 26 that is in great condition, i know its a glock blah blah blah and there is a few little spots you have to look for to see any flaws, i grew up extremely poor and the nicer I keep my things the longer they seem to last, even cosmetically. I am switching out the garbage plastic sights ive had on it for a couple years for some tru glos from amazon this week, got a front site tool, a pusher and the sights coming friday.

Now here is my question, in almost every single video I see of someone using a sight pusher on youtube it takes the finish off the new sight where the sight pusher had contact and even lenny mcgill did it in his video installing new trijicon sights, i dont care if the old polymer ones get ruined coming out but would painters tape or anything else help from marring up the new sights when installing? any tips? thank you.

Basically, what you want to avoid is metal to metal contact. I usually have a piece of leather, but I think (keyword "think") that using a layer or two of masking tape might help.

I use a Jennings Machine and tool pusher. And I hardly file the sights down. Dawson and Warren sights press right in.

Maybe a small rub mark. No uglier than anything else glock. I'll bet that anything will just make the Mark's worse. Pusher needs solid contact. Maybe a brass shim could work.

My slide is protected by e tape and soft wood. Paint stirs, IIRC.

Remember, push a half turn, back off the pusher, then apply another turn. Dont just continuous crank, itll break something when it starts to tweak.

Some marks on sight installs are also not permanent. Seen people say things are defiled, but it's just brass (etc) marking the finish. A good cleaning at that point and it's factory finish again.

I completely forgot about brass. Great point!
