Between black coffee, and shiftn' gears
I was sitting outside on the porch, with a cigar, cup of coffee and let my mind wander and...

With the price metals having gone up...

Anybody else thinking CCI Blazer with aluminum casings is not so "disposable" anymore?
I am picturing some Anti scrap metal buyer wondering what all them itty bitty "cans" are mixed in with soda cans and the like.

Itty bitty disposable shot glasses
and Chill Pill containers are my replies, you folks are on your own coming up with replies...

The other day I was given a rusty USGI / Colt 1911 magazine. Rusty as in, it has been laying on a carport for who knows how long...

So I insert 7 rounds of 45ACP into this blue 7 round mag, with sealed base, and yes, it took all 7 rounds.
Looking through the holes I can see the spring is rusty, and despite all the rust, this mag took all 7 rounds, and all easily unloaded using light pressure sliding them out.

I find this funny as all get out, as there are expensive, stainless mags, with removable bases , that hold more rounds that won't feed and extract.

The US One Cent coin otherwise known as a Penny needs to be replaced with .22 rim-fire ctgs.

The darn things are not made of copper as they used to be. One never has a penny when they need one, or have too many in pockets, purse, car consoles when they don't need one.

I sometimes think just rounding to the nearest 5 cents ( nickel ) would be a good idea, then again, if folks used a .22 rim-fire ctg as they do a Penny now...
a. More folks would be exposed to "firearms" that perhaps are not.
b. We Pro-Gun folks could totally tick off the anti gunners.
c. Fence sitters would "see" the positive in "firearms.
d. I like the idea of brainwashing and propaganda to send the message I want. I mean Tyranny does this, so it makes sense to me, to use the same tactics for my beliefs.

I don't care if the bags of shot come in 25 pound canvas bags.
You get a bunch of those in a wood ammo crate, and they are a lot heavier than the math figured out says they weigh.

Aside, a little known fact about them wooden ammo crates. If you tug on them a certain way, they will tug back harder.

Folks can say what they want about .40 cal, and how it all came about.
I am convinced the darn .40 cal was invented to drive folks nuts that shoot 9mm and 45ACP .

Police brass, and in sorting, I assure you the .40 cal will hide in 9mm cases, and be hiding inside a 45ACP cases.

How come the poorer quality ammo have quality sounding names?

i.e. Winchester Xpert .22 rim-fire.

*smoke rings*

I shoot both .45ACP and 9mm Makarov. Lemme tell ya, I've been fooled into picking up a lot of 9mm Luger, .40, and .380 by mistake. I've finally gotten so that I can spot the difference on the .40/.45, but only when I'm standing right over it. The other two are just too close.

The idea to abolish the penny reminds me of the rounding scheme in Office Space. If the penny was done away with, where would that rounded off money go? I bet we wouldn't see a dime of it.

I'm all for going to an ammo based economy. I'd be in my bedroom with a progressive press counterfeiting like mad.

I dunno, Steve. I tend to think the 40 s&w was invented so folks DON"T HAVE TO shoot 9mm and 45acp. :neener:

Tell the scrap guy the alum. cases are soup cans... from Keebler elves.

Coffee done almost made a repeat appearance on my keyboard, Steve!

I can picture a gumball machine accepting those. Even the act of asking one's parents for a handout to use it would be hilarious!

Thanks for this and your other musings. Always a good read...and reread. :neener:

I don't mind all the talk about 9mm vs 45ACP. I just enjoy shooting my 40 SW in my Bersa Thunder 40 Hi Cap:)

I've been told the CCI Blazer aluminum is some weird alloy not in demand and the brass from the primer cups complicates the recycling making it not worth the effort.

Your local scrap dealer should know, if he won't offer anything for it then you know for sure.

You are totally wrong about .40S&W. The .45GAP and WinNT (and other "lead-free" small pistol primed .45ACP) were invented to drive .45ACP reloaders nuts!

Reloaders of 9mm (9x19) have never really had a chance with .380 (9x17) and 9mm Mak (9x18) mixed in. The 9mm Mak is getting much less common and little of it is bras cased, but with guns like the Ruger LCP I'm culling out a lot more .380 these days. It doesn't go to waste, I eventually reload it for my wife's Beretta 86. Throw in a little .38Super and you'll be challenging your eyesight and tactile senses.

Need a penny take a penny -

You gotta admit it would neater than all get out to see Sarah Brady, Michael Douglas, Hillary Clinton, and kind, standing at the checkout with the little bin that says:

Need a .22 rimfire ctg, take a .22 rimfire ctg.

*evil grin*

I have some Field & Stream magazines from the year 1955; the year I was born.

.243 vs 6mm is one article.
Last I checked that debate has not been settled yet, much like other caliber debates.

Folks just like to argue.
Many "sides" are taken for no other reason as that is what the kid grew up with.
If kid grew up with Ford being the family vehicle, and maybe even Ford tractors, then that kid is going to be a Ford man/woman.

I come up with a shotgun behind the door, and loaded guns in the house.
I was Parented and Mentored.
Three Rules of Gun Safety, and later Rule 3 was split to make Rule 4.

Gubmint did not tell adults how to raise a kid. For darn sure did tell adults how to raise a kid with guns being a part of kid's coming up and raising.

As a brat, I got my butt popped if I messed up.

Get bigger, and bring real guns to school for show and tell.
I mean a number of kids walking/ riding bikes to school with a gun for Show-n-Tell, or other reasons, like Shop class.

We never had a problem with guns in the school, or anyone coming to a school and doing some shooting.

One could also order a gun and have it delivered C.O.D. to the house.

The more gov't meddles, the more matters get messed up.

As I recall, in the late '80s and early '90s, my friend's high school allowed students to bring a shotgun to school for various hunting seasons. It was a rural school. You just dropped it off at the principal's office and picked it up when you were leaving.

Upon presenting a valid hunting license, they were even allowed to miss 2 days of school with the excuse 'hunting'. Crazy? Nope. They all just understood what it was about.

Back in the 1980s I was in the Army and posted in Germany. None of the PX stores over there accepted pennies. Everything was rounded to the nearest 5 cents. I didn't see or use a penny for 2 years until I returned to the States. I'm all for getting rid of the penny.
