I fired a "new to me" M1907 .380 Husky, basically a Browning 1903 design, twice recently, the first time cleaning only the barrel without removing the slide, the second time removing the slide and barrel but nothing more.

On reassembly the trigger won't trip the hammer. I think this has happened with other semi-autos and I freed the mechanism but I can't recall how.

I'm transferring this to a fellow C&R in Oregon and would like to correct the situation before sending it and would like to do so without further removal of parts. If that is needed he is more skilled and has better tools than I do.

Everything seems to be in place and in order per the parts diagram, the manual safety, the grip safety, the trigger function, the disconnector movement, etc. The hammer won't trip, slide on or slide off.

Does anyone have any ideas?

First off, don't take the gun all apart. Like the similar Colt Model 1903, that gun comes apart easy and goes together hard. It sounds like the sear is not resetting. I suggest field stripping, then removing the grips and using a good cleaning spray (I recommend G96 Gun Treatment but it is not available everywhere) to hose down the inside and get rid of old grease and dirt. An alternative, like dunking the gun in brake free is also a good idea. As you spray or soak, work everything, including the disconnector by pushing it down from the top of the frame. I think the problem may fix itself. But a detail stripping is almost guaranteed to be trouble, and should be done only to replace a broken part.

That M1907 was not originally in .380 ACP, it was in 9mm Browning Long, a longer and slightly more powerful cartridge. Many were converted by insertion of a chamber adapter, although there were also new .380 barrels made for them. The conversion also involved cutting a couple of coils off the recoil spring. It is a rugged, well made gun, and should last about forever with the milder round. The term "Husky" was a marketing ploy by one distributor.

I paid $128 for mine earlier this year, and could not be happier with it.

I have been shooting atomic Power Pistol loads, and it is a great gun that takes 158 gr XTPs loaded in .380 brass at 1.090" OAL.

I got some parts from Sarco for cheap. They have a lot of parts, judging by the low prices.

If you were near Seattle, we could compare the trigger mechanisms.
