I will have to admit, after shooting my first S&W, they are more accurate than their Taurus cousins.
Smith's are more everything than a Taurus, and are no relation at all, thank you...
Not in my experience. My little Taurus has the best DA trigger I've ever felt in a J frame sized gun or K or L frame for that matter, including all the Smiths I've ever shot or owned. It will put 5 rounds into a 3" circle at 25 yards, not bullseye accurate, but danged decent for a 2" barrel. And, the price was easy to swallow, the lock doesn't lock itself, and what the heck is MIM anyway?
But, I ain't bashin' Smiths here, just think the Smith snobs are jealous they spent twice as much for a gun with a hole in the side. But, I like Smith and Wessons really, just don't thumb my nose at other revolvers that are great little guns. Smith and Wesson ain't the be all, end all, never was really. There's always been alternatives, Colt, Ruger, Taurus, even Rossi for poor folks. And, I ain't convinced that the lock is a big deal or the MIM parts, just threw that in for a barb.
I've got a Taurus M66 4" that will put 5 rounds into 1" at 25 yards with either .38 wadcutters or .357 magnum 140 grain Speers all day long. While it don't have the DA trigger my M85 has, it's very smooth and very good and compares with my M19 I had or the M10 I still have.
