Well, I just ordered a set of Dillon's electromuffs and 5pr of Tru-Spec's STU pants....and a Wilderness 5-stitch belt. Isn't that enough to get mall ninja status? Am I now properly equipped to play in the gun games?

What I really need now is a Pact Mk4 timer to see how fast/slow I am. I've been searching the forums for the best deals, but I'm not finding one that I like. The timers sounds like it will do everything I could ask and I hope to have it by the end of next month if I can find a good deal.

My next big spend will be a 9mm 1911 to trim down the shooting costs.


And I just got taken off the Sunday schedule so I can shoot in the local IDPA comps! Does that sound like Divine Providence or what!!!

Seriously, the Pact MkIV is a really useful piece of hardware. I use mine almost every time I go to the range, for timing rapid-rife strings if nothing else.

If you want to cut some time off the learning curve then there are a lot of great resources available. There are a few books and videeos that I would also reccomend

Books
Beyond the fundamentals - Brian Enos
Practical Shooting Handbook - Matt Burkett

Each of these books compliment each other. Brian really focuses heavily on the mental aspects and Matt goes to more practical(not sure of right word) aspects. They are both great. I believe both Matt and Brian sell packages that include both books and possibly videos.

Videos
Matts videos are great. They will really help you learn the fundamentals the right way. They also come in DVD which kicks butt for looking up certain areas to work on.

I can say that I wish I would have read both books when I first started. I wouldnt have as many bad habits to overcome now. I highly reccomend them all if you want to be serious in the sport. Even if you are just out for fun they will really help you improve.

Another good idea is to watch what the good shooters are doing and ask them questions. I haven't meet anyone yet who doesn't love to talk about our sport.

I went to the Enos sight but didn't see any specials. He's asking $200 for the timer! If that's special, give me run-of-the-mill.

Matt, would you say your writing style is less that of Yoda than Enos? I loved Brian's book, but I kinda felt like I should be wearing an orange robe or something. I'm very keen on those snapcaps you offer. They're a bit high, but I'm sure they are head and shoulders above Azoom. Looks like I'll have to spend some money your way.

Oh yeah! Very much so. The concept when I wrote the book is that anyone with some basic understanding of practical shooting will be able to grasp all the concepts.

Another great way to learn...

is buy yourself some training...

Classes out ther are taught by
Matt B, Todd, Robbie on occasion, Ron Avery, etc..

I have heard good things about them..about teaching you fundamentals and tips to help be smoother and quicker..

I have had classes from John Shaw, Matt McLearn, and Michael Voigt and I have learned a lot about how I shoot.

That's what I'm saying "T" wear some cool BDU's and a 9mm 1911, go forth and hose those targets. You'll hit the upper level at all IDPA shoots. Sounds like a good plan to me I'm trying to get the same results with a Glock, in 9mm of course. Not the 34, I'm using a 17 so I don't look to obvious. That's what the "game" is all about.
