I can't find a LCP anywhere

LCP availability

I was at Sportsman's Warehouse last night and they didn't have one. The counter guys had never even heard of it.

I visited my local gun store yesterday and they had 5 LCP's in stock. They were asking full retail $330. I bought the Kel-Tec PF9 a week ago or I might have picked up the LCP. I'm happy with the PF9. I'd rather have 8 shots of 9mm.

I bought an unfired used last night.
A local guy bought one for his wife & she didn't like the tiny grip.

I picked one up yesterday 299 in tucson, and they have 4 more coming in today or tomorrow. Funny how initially here in tucson everyone started selling just above what the kel-tec was selling for and now the price has migrated up to 300-330 range. I was a bit ticked since I was initially quoted 270 the day before just before the ruger rep visited. i guess he informed the shop owner of the demand and ability to make more off of them. the price was lower that what i was quoted at a couple other shops im town. so i bit my tongue and bought it with out picking up any ammo for it there. i shot 100 rounds of american copper ball with it last night and had 3 ftf. each was the last round (#6) in the clip. this happened on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th mag load/reload. not sure what that means yet. i will try some different range ammo when i pick up some personal defense ammo. i will be going to the range again later this week to see if i have anymore issues with it. tblt:

Here's some free advice from an old fart..

Wait.

That's what I'm doing. I want an LCP also, but past history buying a first run firearm has finally taught me the, "be patient, let others beta-test" approach.

In the past I have gotten fired up with the release of new model pistols/revolvers and almost every time I wound up with a firearm that needed some fixin'.

To mention a few, a Charter Arms Pathfinder/Taurus PT22/Beretta Tomcat/Walther PPS, all very low serial numbers, all with problems..

Now I'm gonna just sit back and wait for a couple of months.. I think by the middle of the summer LCP's will be available, kinks removed, and the prices will have stablized to a reasonable asking price.

"Instant gratification" is a thing we all desire, but you generally wind up paying top dollar for whatever it is you are lusting after, and if that product is going to have "bugs" you can bet it'll be present in the first run.

Just personal opinion/YMMV.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

I've not shot one, but I've handled one and I've handled the Kel-Tec. Obviously I can only speak to looks and feel. In that department, the LCP blows the Kel-Tec out of the water.

Oh, and I've seen one at a local shop, and another shop has had them in but had none when I was there. They go quickly, but shops around these parts are getting them in.

I bought a holster for mine today. It is OWB holster. Also have on order and shipping a Don Hume IWB holster. It replaces my S&W 642. The Ruger LCP feels about the size and weight of my Blackberry phone. I can't believe how much of a difference it is from my 642. Nice for summer.

Knob Creek Guns in Radcliff, KY as one in stock now. I bought the first one they got in last week for $298.00 and the second one in the case is $329.00

Marshall -

The holster has been quite a ordeal.

On Ruger's webpage it states a Don Hume J966630R - Black Leather J.I.T. Slide. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. I ordered one and it came in and does not fit at all. That is a Model 80 JIT. For that model you need a 80-2 JIT Slide (J989015R Brown, and J989025R Black). This is the second generation and supposely fits. Don Hume is 8 weeks out on this JIT holster so I ordered the IWB one from gunnersalley.com. It should come in Saturday.

For the Fobus: KT2G - Tactical Elite Paddle. I bought one today and it is tight on the trigger guard. You need to loosen the retainer screw on the holster and it slides in there nice. I like the paddle holster and Kydex and works good for a quick throw on and go to the store.

i went to the range again today and shot about 125 rounds with no problems. my buddy picked up one of the LCPs today at the same shop i got mine at. he shot 100 rounds today with no problems either. my wife and i will hit the range tomorrow after that i will break it down and clean it. it should have 400 rounds through it by then and i want to see if there is any abnormal wear.

Thanks a lot for the heads up on the 80-2 JIT.

This is the one I was actually inquiring about. The IWB.

Do the holsters designed for the Kel Tec P3AT 2cd gen fit the LCP?

not sure

i had a great pocket hoslter by ron graham for my kt 380 and sold the gun and kept the holster thinking my lcp would fit in it. WRONG. It won't fit, close but no bananna. Just bought a desantis nemesis for my sons lcp and it came through with a lcp label inside of it. humm maybe there is some size difference after all..

I made a request and the manager at my LGS, serioulsy said he had a bunch (about a 100) on backorder! I knew they were popular but had no idea they were that POPULAR.

They are extreamly popular. I love mine. I got a Fobus KT2G holster and it works for me for the past 2 days. Very small, lighter than my 642.

I found one at shooting sports in tampa for 330. That is Ruger's MSRP
Do you think you will carry it more than your 642
PX15 I am going to wait till around Cristmass and by myself a Lcp for my present I don;t want one I have to send back

mquaack.....

...serial no: 370-064xx. it has the modified frame by ruger. as far as the failure to feed, i have not had any more problems. i have used several different ammo brands including the original and haven't had any more problems. i have about 400 rounds through it now. btw, murphy's in tucson should have 1 left. GD

gonediesel

congrats on ur lcp. great gun. they indeed do bang every time. I have 700 flawless rounds through my sons lcp. jsut a real pleasure to shoot and to know it is reliable. Great gun, you have a winner. treat it right and it will reward u in kind.

If you really want one, contact Jensen Arms in Loveland CO. He does Internet sales and had some in stock on Friday ($259).

Jams with FMJ Ammo

I purchased the Ruger 380 LCP in mid-April and immediately had a problem with jamming using FMJ ammo. No problems with JHP ammo. Ruger sent me a new barrel. Jams now occur only with last round in magazine if it is FMJ. I will check with them again to determine what the resolution might be. Since I plan on using JHPs it really does not matter to me but it is annoying.
