Congradulate your GF for being level headed enough to get the plates. Hang onto that one, you've got a rare specimen there! How long did it take you to get the gun out of your pants, pointed at the BGs and ready to fire?

I've held (but not shot) a P22 and I have to say, there's ALOT of pistols out there that're just as small if not smaller than a P22. Besides that, I'd rather go unarmed than shoot someone with a .22 because I'd be afraid of pissing the BG off even more than he was originally if I shot him with something that small. The reason why your .22 scared them off is because the P22 looks like a really mean pistol. They thought it was a 9mm or something.

Unarmed rather than have a .22?... c'mon now...

I think the BGs retreated not because they thought the had a larger gun, but because he presented a firearm in a convincing manner, and they were cowards who expected a defenseless target. All calibers work the same when considering psychological deterrence.

Yep, a lot of guns are smaller... I have the P22 because I love to shoot it... Nice, low recoil, cheap to feed. Don't like my PT22 (taurus) that much..

I have absolutely no idea if they knew what kind of gun it was. And BTW, I would rather shoot someone with a .22lr rather than depending on my fists to fight 2 guys armed with screwdrivers, pipes, knives, rocks, sticks or whatever they have on. Just my opinion.

Oh, BTW I disn´t piss them off... they got there already pissed off!

This story helps me out though, as my GF cries every time I mention carrying concealed. (One of those "It couldent happen to us" and "HD? Just get Brinks or ADT" girls.)
Next time we talk about it and she asks why I feel its so important to carry, I'll show her this story and say "because in contrast to blood, pee is the easier stain to remove"
