I have been looking so hard at which gun to buy myself the past week, that I actually got tired of looking and too overwhelmed with statistics to make a decision. I started with every sight from buds to gun grabber, and called all over to get a CZ with no luck, phase two, get something else or wait, started looking at 1911's, E series, over $1400 with tax for the Scandium, then a voice said, you know you've done this before, and you aren't going to end up carrying it when that PM9 in your pocket is so light and airy.
Back to the commanders, then the PPQ and all of the plastic guns, just in time to catch an article that went on about how you need hi-capacity weapons in modern day scenarios, so out went the 1911's and more to the Tupperware.
But I have a few of those, but the article said I need more with 20 round capacity.
Then a drive to the LGS, where my buddy the owner starts telling me stories about being followed home last night by 3 guys in a pickup on his bumper till he pulled into a 711, and got out to 3 hooded idiots who walked up towards him, and he swept his shirt away from his 23 as they turned and left. Another chimes in with his girl who works in a hair salon, being confronted for the 2nd time this month by some hooded group at the front desk where she had her hand on her "Judge", until they saw it and left. Another guy walks in and asks for a high powered rifle, he is open carrying, asks for an AK, "or something like that" don't you have anything bigger, he asks. We don't even give him any credibility as the stories are coming fast and furious by now. Bear spray says the salon owner, that's what we need ,he tells the gun store owners girl.
He the LGS owner, explains that Bear spray was used in their barracks and still stank 2 years later, apparently the stuff hangs out like the Bears do. Now I have drifted over to the 1911's again, a load of Kimbers I some how missed catches my eye, ahh, a CDP, Crimson Trace, and several Solo's and Kimber carry's, But I thought I just decided against that. Wow a Range officer on sale, and a Springer Loaded, logic leaves the room again, haven't even gotten to the revolvers, but have to keep the stories coming or I will never see all of these guns. An hour and a half goes by, I am sweating now, Jonesing on steel and Scandium. I catch myself like a heroin addict before he sticks the needle in his vein.
I have to get out of here before it's too late. I excuse myself to go home and do some research on my next purchase, "still thinking about maybe a 357",or that Range Officer for $780, "hell it's on sale this week only. I bolt for the car. it starts and I feel the cold air hit me in the face. I made it out of there with no permanent damage. My heart rate slows down and I head home.
