I Love Reloading

I wondered if I were rich would I still reload? My answer to my self was yes, even more than before :D

I hear ya PotatoHead, that's why I had to move part of my stock pile the other day. It started out with just 10 or 15 pounds of powder on my side of the closet, then I started stocking bottle neck loads. She was visibly getting irritated, so I ended up moving most of it to another location. Dog gone it, those MTM cases stacked so nicely on the shelves too, much better than her shoes do.

Looks like I'm gonna have to build or buy a large cabinet to keep the piece. Either that, or rent my wife her own house for her shoe collection.

GS
LOL. Good post. Those cases do stack really nicely. You know how we're always talking about our OCD problem? (problem, what problem?:)) I went back thru and made sure to fill the MTM cases back up on some that I'd partially shot and werent full from when I first started... Same loads, brass, bullets, etc..

Because having missing rounds, or mismatched brass in a box would just be uncivilized.

"Unloading" Nice.

I originally started loading for handgun only (.38/.357) back in 1990. I stopped for a few years, mostly because I just didn't shoot as much anymore. Then , I bought a '95 Mauser in 7x57mm. After a couple of years, I started having trouble finding good surplus ammo for it. One day I stumbled across an old Midway catalog, and it dawned on me that I didn't need to keep looking for surplus ammo. I could just make my own brand new ammo. So, that rifle got me back into hand loading. Now, I load all of our centerfire handgun, rifle, and shotgun ammo.

Wish we could load rimfire.

Reloading is almost therapeutic for me. There's just something about it...
Exactly. During the summer of 2012, it was blazing hot all summer long here in the St. Louis area; near or over 100°F every day for months. I was "between jobs" that summer, and spent most of it riding my Goldwing in the mornings before it got too hot, then retired to my (cool) basement loading bench for the afternoons. I loaded a lot of ammo that summer. Way more than I shot. I just enjoyed the s**t out of that time.

Don't have a 30-40 yet but I had the same feeling with my wife's Swedish mauser.
I really want a 30-40 since I still remember my dad talking about shooting my grandfather's krag-jorgenson when he was a kid in norway in the 30s

evtSmtx, while I was looking for my 30-40 Krag, I came across a Krag in 6.5... Man, it was tempting... I also own a 6.5 Swedish Mauser and it is one nice rifle and cartridge.

That 30-40 is a very smooth action, and it was on my want list for a long time. I have another one that I picked up some years ago, but on closer inspection before firing it, discovered the stock severely cracked. I hadn't noticed when I first brought it home. It was also one of the many cut down barrel samples.
Well, to replace the stock is around $200, and I figured I wanted a military correct, barrel, stocks, etc. and finally found one at an affordable price $540 shipped.
They are getting a little harder to find in non-sporterized condition.

So it's REALLY not just me.
My OCD HATES partial boxes.
So I shoot an entire box when I go to the range.

I laugh at my buddy when he shoots 6 or 12 rds & he's done.
Heck it takes him way longer to get to the range than it does to shoot. :neener:

This is hilarious. I had an awesomely fun unloading session tonight. (I love that term: unloading.) I was working my way through a 50 rnd box of .223 and there were 15 rounds left. I got that inkling I was done and I thought "It would be criminal to go home with a partial box!" I loaded 'em up and blasted away. I was whacking a 4" spinner at 200 yds and (I don't know how big) gong at 350 yds. Holy smokes that's fun.

I find the synergy between the two hobbies (loading and unloading) simply fascinating and totally enjoyable. What other hobbies are set up with that synergy? Fly fishing and tieing flies I would guess.

I hate reloading ...I reload only because it saves me a lot of money on 9mm

the picking, cleaning the dirt and mud, sorting, tumbling, reloading, chamber checking every round sucks.

but with out reloading I couldn't afford to shoot USPSA as much as I do.

Looks like I also have a problem then.

Last week for the first time I did exactly the same thing. My ammo can was full of ammo cases, but some of the cases were not full. This just seemed like a waste of space. so I had to fill those cases with the same loads, just to make sure I utilize all the space, and my total count of rounds for the caliber is also back to a nice round number (multiples of 50 and 100). I have to add also that I was itching to do some reloading since I did not have any planned load development, and I love reloading.

Only been reloading for about 9 months, but definitely love it. Started on 9mm, but now I do .45 ACP, .223, and 10mm. Really enjoy the cost savings, and better quality I think. Definitely not going back to store bought

Have you priced Nosler 168 grain .308 match ammo lately? Its around $25/box. I load my own for $10/box and it shoots as good or better than the factory stuff....I love it!

Last year I went through 6000 rounds total of 9mm and 40 S&W....I could never afford to do that with factory ammo...not a chance.

I also like being able to play around with different bullets and powders, trying different stuff that is home-made is awesome.

I'm currently running 9mm and 40 S&W for 13 cents/round, using Berry's plated bullets.

I love it too. In fact I reload more than I shoot! Gotta get out and shoot more.

I also love old\weird cartridges and the guns that fire them. I load Win 401SL, .348 Win, 45 Win Mag and a few others that I could not do without reloading. No safe queens for me :)

To me, Reloading isn't just out of necessity, I am addicted to it and have been since I first started trying to recover from a MVA, and then the more I reloaded the and got comfortable doing so, if I had not had the Hobby (Turned to OBSESSION WITH TINY GROUPS AND SAW THAT, FACTORY LOADS JUST , DIDN'T GIVE ME THE SATISFACTION, WHEN I HARVESTED A WHITETAIL I WAS USING AMMO THAT I HAD PUT TOGETHER, IT WAS A BIGGER SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT THAN EVER BEFORE! !! ) So much so that I, have become a reloader that shoots so, I can reload, even if had rather shoot than eat, and that's a bold statement for me. Reloading makes my shooting a great deal more enjoyable, I truly am addicted, just ask my Wife, who has been a real trooper and supportive beyond belief, because it is really a great Therapeutic activity in my life. .

You know, all the ones above posting about not leaving the range with a partial box. Normally, I'd be in the camp of This doesn't bother me at ALL. I'm really not OCD about many things. I can handle partial boxes all day long. I just grab the partial box with another box on the next range trip.
But, last night I got the short end of the stick, or better yet, the box. I brought a partial box of 9MM, a full box of 9, some 45, and some 22LR. Once at the range, my buddy asked me to spot a box of 9 to another friend as all he had brought was steel case/jacket that the range didn't allow. I said no sweat, gave the box so the guy could shoot. I figured, I had the partial box.
Once I set up, open up the partial box -- there are only 10 rounds in there. Right then I realized -- partial boxes can be deceiving.
Another buddy that also reloads ended up helping me out with a box of his 9mm reloads. And, I shot more of other calibers.
