I need a .40 S&W - Sig 229 (just thoughts)? or a Glock 23

Before the new AWB and mag ban took effect, I bought up multiple mags, in pairs and triples, for pistols I don't currently own, in anticipation of buying these guns when they started getting dumped... Of course, it's illegal to sell them in the state now, so I guess I'll just have to buy guns for 'em...
1,000 % !

Who is Ben Stoeger anyways?
He is a multiple world champion in shooting.. and you are?
Ben Stoeger goes, "Who is Mark Mark?" 😁

The G22 never appealed to me, too big, love the 23 tho! GOOD PRICE. But I don’t buy online sometimes about the Government and Such! JK! 😂 I just don’t like fees
I prefer not to buy any new/used guns without having to dry fire while watching the front sight (You know, if front sight jerks/moves, accuracy will be less thing ;)).

But used Glocks, especially LE trade-ins are one exception I will make as Tennifer hardening process of barrel/slide makes them very durable with no negligible wear of rifling (Remember? My G17 with 120,000 rounds shot through for USPSA still had pristine rifling and maintained accuracy?).

Even a well used Glocks with some replacement springs and new recoil spring assembly will essentially make it like new. And well used Glocks will likely have well broken-in trigger surfaces for smoother striker release/less or no movement of front sight/muzzle. 👍

And with Glock 22 or 23, you are not just getting one gun but 3+:
  • 40S&W with factory barrel
  • 9mm/.357 Sig with conversion barrels
  • 22LR with AA slide kit

I like the point he made about becoming proficient with a 40 makes you a more proficient shooter when you go back to 9mm because it instills some technique around grip and recoil control that you might not realize you are missing if you only shoot 9mm. I believe that is true. Besides for that the points he is making are really only relevant to competitive shooting so not really sure what that has to do with the needs or wants of other people.

I don’t believe in Conversion kits! I stop me from getting more guns! 😂

I agree, I will take a well used glock over a new one any day. Someone else has already put in the expense of breaking it in for me. When I put together polymer 80's or even PSA Daggers I buy used glock triggers off ebay. They are way nicer than any of the new trigger parts kits I've tried. My used glock slides and barrels have all also been very accurate and reliable. I went from building AR's where random mismatched parts almost always work, to building glocks where cheap aftermarket parts only lead to pain and suffering. Pretty much every problem I have ever encountered on a glock clone has been solved by replacing parts with new or used oem glock parts.

I've owned a couple of G22's and carried one for some time. I like the full sized Glock better than the mid sized. The grip is not any smaller in diameter, just a bit shorter for the mid sized, so I'd rather have the longer barrel and full length magazine. The I never had any complaints about the G22, it just wasn't my flavor. Carried alright though in a Galco combatmaster holster.

UPDATE: was not the classic 229 from the 90’s or a police trade in like I wish. it’s a Modern 229 SAS with not mags & price was $599 :( SAD! 😢
