well, keep in mind i wont be buying a gun just because someone on here says, "hey! buy this one!" i am simply looking for new ideas to go "check out". thank you
I had a Sig P229 in 9mm and it was a great pistol but I ended up trading it in for a Glock. The only bad thing is the expensive magazines. You can't go wrong with a Sig.
If I were looking for a 9mm. I would start with the Browning Hi-Power. Great feel to it and seems to be a good fit for most everyone. The CZ 75 or P-01 would be my next choice in a 9mm. mainly because of it's innovative design with the slide running inside the frame. Also the shape of its grip closely resembles that of the Hi-Power.
The SIG P226 or P229 would be another decent handling gun to try, though I never really cared much for the DA/SA trigger design. I would also have to say the same thing about the Beretta Model 92. The Taurus PT-92 might be another way to go though if you prefer the feel of the Beretta, as the Taurus has a combination safety/decocker which allows you to choose between DA or SA for your first shot.
Just my .02, but I was a CZ guy for many years, then on a whim I got a Taurus 1911 in 9mm. I dont get excited easily about hand guns but this one is awesome. 1500 rounds in 2 months without a hitch and the price was reasonable. YMMV
But I really like my Springfield XD9, the ones I've owned have been very accurate and I've owned 2 besides the one I now Have and an XD40 as well. If you like combat tupperware and the 1911, they have basically the same grip angle.
im goin with the 226, i have decided. now i just have to try one, and in reply to the earlier question, i prefer da/sa, i have big hands, i want a pistol for ccw/personal defense, and a 500 to 600 dollar price range. i am gonna find a used 226. i have decided, if that dont do it i will go from there. thank you very much for all of your input
Sig 226 or Glock 17 for me. Have carried both for many years and have always been extremely satisfied. Never a failure of any kind. You can't go wrong with most of the high quality 9s these days. Shoot as many as you can and pick what feels right.
Another vote here for CZ. I have the CZ 75 D PCR and it's a nice gun. I also have a CZ 82 in 9mm Makarov. It's hard to find anyone who has bad things to say about CZ.
Siggggg.... I have a glock, M&P, USP, and my Sig 229 is probably the most luxurious gun I've shot (mine's a .357Sig though.... I got into reloading because of this caliber)... Everything about the gun is smooth, and perfect. My buddy says holding his 226 is like "...giving his hand a hug," and I would have to agree.
The 229 and the 226 are essentially the same except one is a 5" and the other is a 4" other than that.... I don't think you can go wrong with either a 229 or a 226...
ok, well, i went to the gun show today to buy my new pistol, and........i got the 1911, i just couldnt stand it, i had to get it so, yay for .45 acp hahahaha
