Guys, let's not do "hometown newspapers," like the one in the town of 6,000 that I grew up in, but if you've got a "regional" newspaper, please post the "news tip" e-mail address or web page.

Likewise, looking for info for your television stations' newsdesk/news tip stuff...

ABC15 News - Phoenix, AZ

Can only find an online contact form for them:

http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/myfox/pages/InsideFox/ContactUs?pageId=5.11

Will you be posting a link to the database after you've finished it?

CBS 5 - Phoenix, AZ

NEWS TIPS - 602-650-0711 OR [email protected]

Thier physical address & phone numbers are on that page also.

Clue time...

We NEED an easy way to be able to RAPIDLY contact a LOT of media outlets, especially in larger cities, when gun control advocates in congress, or other areas, start to get frisky.

You can type in all the barfies you want, and you're not going to change that the MEDIA controls public opinion... How many of you KNOW Bush is eeeevilll, and the ONLY real knowledge you have of the situation is what you got from freakin' TELEVISION?

Overall, the firearms community is sad. It's so fragmented between duck hunters to deer hunters to target shooters, to self defense people, and it's easy for the anti-gun activists to tear us apart. Gun owners do not know how to use the media, and any attempt to do so is either soundly ignored, or treated like it is something being done by the slow children next door. Well, the media controls, to a great extent, how MANY of you think, whether you're going to admit it or not.

Sad.

Also, "letters to the editor" are one thing - all well and good. But to REALLY hit some of these folks, we need the BREAKING NEWS TIP contact information.

This is the kind of info we need...

And the Dallas Morning News makes this sort of info VERY hard to find. They don't have a specific "tip line," or anything like that.

What is this for?

If one of us finds a positive or negative RKBA or shooting story a collection of contacts for media outlets gives our members, those willing to do something other than mewl and whine on THR, the chance to send a flood of notices to a wide range of media outlets about that story. If enough interest is generated in that story, that in and of itself becomes news. We can use media outlets to help in a grass-roots effort on our part to counter the lies and myths associated with RKBA.

Bogie ~

Get the info, get it into readable & reasonably organized format in one post, and I'll sticky it & close the thread, plus beg the more techno-savvy folks to drop it into the library as well.

Going to leave this unstuck for now, but drop me a PM if it drops off the front page. (People tend to see the stuff bouncing up & down more than they do stickies, believe it or not ...)

I've got another "post" that I'm cutting and pasting into when I get a few more. Gonna set it up national and regional, and alphabetize.

Not looking so much at "letters to the editor" type addresses, but for news-type addresses. Editorials are for stale stuff, and "opinion" pieces. We need to work the news...

This is a great idea. I thought it might be something like this, but since there was no explanation at all I thought I would check it out. I will try to get Kentucky's information together tomorrow and post it.

This is a good idea. I should have had these in a central location, anyway.
