We gun nuts are a prepared bunch aren't we. I always say at the bare minimum everybody should be have on their person a way to make fire, a way to make light, a blade and basic tools.

I have that covered and more.

OOOOppppps just realized I posted this as SHESLINGER instead of CSLINGER. Heck with all this crap a purse wouldn't be half bad. :D

IMO men screwed up big time when they decided that purses were for women. I think it would be great if the tradition of carrying purses had evolved as a masculine trait. On many things, I'm willing to set trends, but not on this.

If you want a "man purse" you could try something like this.

BagFacetCourierCamo.jpg

I've only really seen us youngin's carrying courier bags like that, but they can hold a lot of stuff without looking like you're carrying a purse.

Only cure I can see short of wearing an "urban daypack" (as Skunky calls it) is to integrate stuff.

You really don't need a cellphone AND a watch, for example, if you have a cellphone that keeps the time (though cellphone batteries tend to run out fast...). A flashlight is a nice thing to have, but not totally necessary during the daytime. Instead of carrying a spare mag, you could carry a double-stack semiauto or a BUG, or ditch the spare mag altogether.

I carry a lot of crap, too (knife, flashlight, watch, wallet, phone, keys), so who am I to talk, though? ;)

Right pocket:
-wallet
-two small index cards, folded (for carrying to-do list, writing reminders, numbers)

Rear pocket:
-Benchmade mini-Griptilian

Cellphone pocket: (in jeans or Dickies shorts, on thigh)
-Cellphone

Left Pocket:
-handkerchief
-keys, with LED mini-light as keychain
-Fisher space pen in leather case

With khakis, have to carry cellphone in coat or clipped to belt. When not in CA, have a P32 in right pocket, so wallet slides into the left pocket. It's actually all pretty convenient, though khakis make everything slightly harder than jeans. A mini-LED isn't as bright as a Maglite, but serves its purpose, and I don't currently carry a spare mag.

For maximum cargo capacity, got to get one of these: www.utilikilts.com

The other day, I emptied my pockets, etc. at the end of work, stepped back, and was truly amazed at all I had carried that day:

Glock 19 in Galco shoulder rig w/ 2 spare mags
Benchmade folder
Victorinox Tinkerer
Leatherman Wave tool
Wallet
car/house keys
work keys on Kubotan
Mini-Mag lite
work pager
personal cell phone
on-call work cell phone
electronic organizer/PDA
two Cross pens (black and blue ink)

Amazed I could stand up.

Frontier days

A "Possibles", bag was carried by men. Contained shot, wads, jerkey, most anything possible. Great idea as this was before pockets.

Since we,ve become a nation of junk packers I see a reason to bring back the possibles bag.

I'm always on the search for a special and smaller wallet as I carry it in my front pocket. And Pack my other pocket with a banger. That leaves the two back pockets which with a boney butt nothing of great thickness goes into. Usually a 2X3 sticky note pad (just a few pages). And the other for multitool of knife,(clip type), of course and then that leaves the waist band and belt loops for other goodies like weapons, cells, keys, foggers, etc. Bout 6#'s of crap wouldn't ya think?

Well, Cslinger, you carry more than I do. But not by much. I fit it all in pockets (unless using IWB for CCW), but it makes me look like I've got mumps on my thighs.

Maybe we need to be style setters and bring back the tactical man-purse. (Would that be a 'brief case'?)

Cslinger,
What type of holster does your P7 snuggle into? How does it ride? It looks like a fairly basic OWB style. I've been looking for a OWB crossdraw for my P7M8 that will handle its butt-heavy balance. Thanks in advance.

Holster is a Don Hume JIT. I have had great luck with DH products and for $25.00 locally it just couldn't be beat.

This handles the P7 great as far as I am concerned.

Let's see. LED flashlight and wallet in left front pocket. Keys and small folder in right front pocket. Comb and small bottle of ibuprofen (the joys of developing arthritis as a young man) in left rear pocket. Larger folding knife clipped to right rear pocket. Cell phone (doubles as watch) goes wherever I find a spot.

I do not as of yet have a CCW for TN. Of course, I'd be unable to carry most days as my employer (the State) only allows LEO's to carry in State buildings. Also I don't really own something suitably sized for CCW. I really must correct that.

I also don't carry any way of making fire. I should fix that.

As for a purse substitute, I have a satchel that I carry around when I'm at work. It does nicely for carrying any lunch, whatever book I'm currently reading and misc items.

cslinger - I feel your pain man ... literally!
Usually hits around the hips and lower back on particularly long and trying days!

Add to your kit:
smokes
zippo
PDA
headset for cell phone
reading glasses and case
a pen or two....

:cuss: Make it a rule to avoid deep water. One slip and I'm done for! I'd never make it up! :D

The daily load out tends to increase the longer I am on this site...lol.

-Wallet
-two sets of keys, personal and work sets
-pocket knife (CRKT KISS with a Wharncliffe blade)
-El Cheapo Wal-Mart LED pocket flashlight that has been extensively abused and keeps coming back for more
-Blistex
-My grandfather's zippo
-Watch on left wrist
-POW/MIA bracelet on the right wrist
-SW 642 in a front pocket or on the ankle, depending on whether it's my primary or BUG, cannot carry at work, so it spends most of it's time in the glovebox.
-SA 1911 when I am at home or in town

Just a cellphone in the left pocket, keys in the right, a Kershaw serrated assisted opening folder clipped inside the cellphone pocket of my jeans, and a wallet. Then again, I am a university student and can't CCW on campus. Even the knife is bending the rules a tad. :uhoh:

I wanna play too.

I wear khaki BDUs all the time. I'm a pocket addict.

Pants
Right Front - Taurus 651 in pocket holster, original Leatherman
Left Front - Car keys, bic lighter, Surefire 6P
Right Rear - Schrade X-Timer clipped in pocket, snot rag
Left Rear - Wallet
Right Cargo - 3x5 notebook and pen, work cell phone
Left Cargo - Smokes, Speed Strip

On my belt I have two dump boxes at 7 and 8 o'clock that hold two more Speed Strips. I carry my personal cell phone in the breast pocket of whatever shirt I'm wearing.

My GF loves to watch me unload my gear. She can't believe I carry this much Sh*t on any given day. It can make for some interesting spontaneous interludes though. :uhoh:

Cellphone, wallet, keys w/ mini pocketknife attached, pen, cheap butterfly knife, and G17 w/ extra mag. The last two have to stay in the car though because I'm not old enough to legally carry them

as an american of scots ancestry, [not a scottishamerican] i often have to search for a place to wear my pistol, my sporran is already full of crap. btw thats the one i wear most.
pat

And since when is having them in your car (assuming the passenger compartment) NOT equivalent to carrying them?

I meant on my person. It's legal to carry those items in your car in Florida, as long as they're "securely encased" or something like that.

I think I'm on the heavier end of carry...

RF:
Emerson SOCFK Folding Knife
Burt Bee's Lip Balm (stick)
Fisher Space Pen

Watch Pocket:
Kershaw Whirlwind
Victorinox Signature Lite

RR:
ID Holder

LR:
Money Clip/Credit Card Holder

LF:
Leatherman Sideclip
Orbit Gum
Victorinox Tinker
Green Photon II

On The Belt:
1 o'clock - Surefire 6P
4 o'clock - Charles Daly EFS
8 o'clock - Two Spare Magazines
11 o'clock - Sony/Ericsson T637

Neck Lanyard:
Yellow Photon II

I've tried to thin down, but I always end up coming back to this setup.

As far as manpurses go, check out the Maxpedition Fatboy at http://www.maxpedition.com. I use one when I want to not carry as much in my pockets or when I want to carry more.

- Jon -

Larger folding knife clipped to right rear pocket.
I carry my folder IWB at 3 o'clock so it's under my elbow most of the time. For some reason I'm paranoid about somebody grabbing it. :uhoh:

I pared down quite a while ago and deliberately carry light now. Here's what gets dumped on the night stand every night:

-watch
-car key
-keyring with absolute minimum (5 keys)
-money clip with cash, CCW permit, credit cards, ID
-P-32 with belt clip
-spare mag
-cellphone

Those fat wallets will literally break your backs gentleman. OTOH, you can only stuff so much in a money clip...keeps ya organized too :)
