I shot my late father's S&W Model 29-3.

I started doing a new crude video series on YT featuring my late father's firearms that I inherited. By the time he passed, there were "only" a couple of dozen firearms left in his safes. I thought it would be fun and a bit therapeutic to shoot each firearm and review it, as well as ask viewers to provide info on them. I know very little about firearms that aren't self-defense weapons, while my father was a renowned big-game hunter who rubbed elbows with giants such as Jack O'Connor and Al Biesen.

The latest video was a review of me shooting his S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum "Dirty Harry" gun. I haven't fired a .44 Magnum in decades. I prefer the .45 Colt or 10mm for my big bore woods guns and carbines.

But his S&W was full of class and craftsmanship that is intoxicating.

We all have a soft spot for the Model 29. I think you honored your father (and the S&W M 29) well! BTW, your weather out there looks a lot nicer than what we've had over here the past week.

My neighbor has a 29 with the 8 3/8 inch barrel. He lets me take it out now and then. I love shooting it. It handles better than my Ruger SBH. It has a 7 1/2 barrel.

My 29-2 will not be sold. One of my boys gets it, the other my brothers old model Super Blackhawk. Both shot regularly but kept nearly pristine. The two best 44s out there.

Love that M29 ^^^^^^^. My all-time favorite shooting revolver. Shot many thousands of rounds through them. Had two - one with iron sights and the other with a 2x Leupold scope.
Both shot great with a 240gr LSWC at 1000-1100fps.

I'm not really a fan of the M29 myself, but if my dad had left me one, I'd remember him until the swelling and bruising went away...
