Went to the gun show today, and I bought:

A Kimber Ultra Carry II (came with laser grips)
Custom Leather holster for it ( andrewsleather.com )
some Wilson Officer's model mags with concealed carry base
a few Wilson Standard Mags (for a different pistol)
some Ammo

All told, I spent nearly $1400. The wife just shook her head and laughed at me, because I would not buy her the Sig Mosquito she wanted. (I told her I had spent enough for one weekend)

You *do* know that your statement means that next weekend you'll be more than happy to buy her the same number of goodies, right?

Woulda been smarter just to get the Mosquito...

I'm in my 50's, single, but have 4 kids and too many grandkids. We have a local gunstore that is well stocked and has reasonable prices. My kids and the older grandkids all buy me gift certificates form my favorite gun store for fathers day, my birthday and the holidays.

Dive,
With all due respect, you're a DUMMY. It's not a personal attack, and I don't know your financial affairs, but if you spend 1400 on you and nadda on the wifey...I bought a 10/22, SKS, PA-63, and TT-33 in one 2-week period. My wife mentioned a few things at the range and Guess What. I surprised her with a Savage MK II...the exact rifle she'd been dropping hints about my entire time in Iraq. You'd best start formulating a plan to make mamma happy.

Bad Idea, Sig Mosquito's may not be the best .22lr's but you should have got it for her, it's not like they are super spendy.

Congrats.

You now owe the wife at least three big buys.

When you go to a show take care of wifey first. You'll walk away with no debits.

Not you owe big time. It may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but you will pay.

She owns half the guns in the safe anyway. She carries a Glock 27.

She only wanted the Mosquito because it came in digital camo, and she likes the color. She thinks 1911 style pistols are ugly.

I', w/ the rest of 'em.... You better get her what she wants or they might not be any more gun show trips for you......

Get her the SIG, and a holster to carry it, and some extra mags (not to mention ammunition), and all will be well. Just don't wait too long...

You spend that much money on your stuff then your wife gets to spend an equal amount of money on her stuff. That's only fair.

Even if she's going to use the stuff you bought too its only right that she gets to pick things for herself as well.

IMO, that's one of the major causes of strife within families -- one member going and buying what they want and leaving no money left for others to buy what they want.

If the household budget can't handle another $1400 for her then you owe it to her to sell enough of your stuff to get $700 and give her the cash. That's basic fairness in relationships.

Man, what were you thinking! Buy her the gun! I've bought my wife a S&W 3913, a S&W M19(her fave), and a S&W M60. She never questions what follows me home. Her usual question when I get home from work..."any good guns come in today?".
