Sorry for the long post, but I think this is a good story.

My wife and I are pushing 60yo, but we are both in great shape, love the outdoors and feel like we are in our 20's.

When we got married, 30+ years ago, I owned a Ruger 10/22 that I would shoot occasionally. My wife never expressed an interest in it and I didn't force her to go with me.

About 20 years ago, I bought a S&W .38cal 2" revolver. I liked it and asked my wife to try it. She shot one round through it and never touched it again. She didn't like the recoil.

Last year, about this time, I started making hints about how I would like to go hunting but did not have an appropriate rifle. For Christmas, she bought me a Howa 1500 .30-06, with a decent scope. Nice rifle, fairly accurate and I have had a lot of fun with it.

In June of this year, I took a precision rifle course and used one of the rifles from the school and was impressed with accuracy of a custom made .308. So I started talking about getting another rifle that would be more accurate and got the line "Why do you need another gun, you already have 3?"

So I thought for a bit and then decided to buy her a Sig Mosquito .22LR pistol. Needless to say, she was surprised, but said she would try it. She really liked it. Then she started asking me to go shooting with her. I then got my "better" rifle, a Tikka T3 Tactical. Very nice by the way. Extremely accurate. After about a month or two she said that she thinks she needs to get something larger. (took me by surprise). We went to the local indoor range and starting renting other pistols, everything from 9mm to .45. She decided she could handle the 9mm.

Then she started looking at training facilities and has decided to take an eight hour defensive handgun course. She wants me to take it too and said I should get a .40cal. She has been looking at catalogs and stores and says she wants to work up to a Kimber.

This all started with getting her a pistol of her own that she could feel comfortable with.

Am I lucky?

Do you need to ask? You are married to a rational woman. Count your blessings.

Am I lucky?
I prefer "blessed."

My wife enjoys shooting as well, especially those "evil assault rifles."

About two years ago she decided she wanted a gun of her own and ended up with a 1911--Mrs. 45-Nut. Now she's claimed my XD45 for her car gun.

It's special is to have something in common that we enjoy so much.

:)

You are indeed, fortunate. As am I.

Mine goes to gun shows with me... and has been known to drag me over to a table and say "look at that!", knowing I was in the market for a piece or two. She's responsible for me finding, and insisting I buy, a Citori with duratouch, the John Wayne .45lc 100 year centennial and a very nice western rig to holster it in.

And she can outshoot my JW with her nickel Vaquero. :)

Life sure is a whole lot more fun when the wives fully support, and participate, in our passions.

I bought my wife a S&W 38 snubbie Airweight years ago. She never really cared too much about shooting. When my father passed, he left me a S&W Mod.10-5 w/a 2" barrel. Had my wife shoot the Mod. 10 and she fell in love with it. Now it's her go-to gun and the airweight is in the safe. She also likes the fact that I hung bowling pins from a 2x4 with hooks so they swing back and forth whenshe hits them. Beats setting them back up all the time. Nothing like a reaction when shooting at a target.

you are blessed my friend.....my wife enjoys it...she don't go to the range as much as I would like her to go... but she likes it and supports it

Without a doubt you are. I too have been blessed with a good woman. I was sitting with the wife eating breakfast at the local IHOP last Saturday when I bring up wanting a new pistol in the near future. To my suprise the wife says "After we do the Sam's run, let's go get you a new gun, you work hard and deserve it". I was shocked and was like are you sure. She was like yes and this is not an early Christmas present, it's a because your a great guy present. I feel blessed.

Last month my wife came home from shopping and told me she'd picked me up something at a garage sale, pulled out a Ruger Blackhawk .41 mag, unfired in the original box and 4 boxes of commercial ammo. She'd stopped at an estate sale and saw it at a great price ($200) so she picked it up for me.

Same gal who a couple years ago called me at work to say she got an email that 7.62 x 39 was on sale for $90 per case so I better order a half dozen.

She's definitely got her faults but she does have her good side.

Always a pleasure to see ones lady standing beside him along with behind him especially while the husband is enjoying one of his favorite hobbies.:D

Count your blessings and be grateful for women who are open minded.;)

31 years.

Cool. That is reall cool stuff to hear in todays world. Married 31 years now and 40 some guns later. I asked her the other day if she wanted to deer hunt this year and she said Ya, in your stand ! What? My stand? there aint room for two in my stand. She just smiled and said , you may have to find a different spot. I'm scouting. Have fun.

I must be way past lucky.

I used to shoot when I was a kid and in the Marines. I sort of quit when I got out and when I met my wife guns never came up. We raced cars together and have a few other extracurricular activities we did together. One day i was watching a Run and Gun on Outdoor channel and she said it looked like fun. Now we are constantly buying each other guns. If I get something new she gets the itch.
Her guns include:
S&W 3913TSW, M1 Garand, AR-15, (2) 1911's, CZ-75B SA and a Remington 870. She has her CCW and goes to a Run and Gun with me at least once a month. We also shoot Steel Challenge once a month.
Did I mention she's hot too? :neener:

It's a training aid to simulate poor visibility. There's a real smoky fire burning in the course you can't see either. I think it was a total of 12 targets (24 rounds) with about 50 yards of movement from the start position to the last target. The welding mask just makes it more "fun".

i'm lucky too

as i've posted here before, my wonderful wife has given me several guns for gifts. She comes with me to the range, and when she's shot her 686 enough, she sits in the car and reads until i'm done. Then we go eat. life is sooooo goood!
