I think our gun rights are about to come under heavy attack.

Last week - Feb 17, 2024, a mass shooting took place at the Kansas City Parade that celebrated the Chief's victory in the Superbowl.

Fortunately, loss of life was much less severe than other shootings in the past, with one death and 20+ injuries. Despite this, this will probably become one of the biggest examples used in anti-gun politics.

Why? Because it was one of the most televised events in the entire nation, literally tens of thousands of people were there, 800 police officers were on duty for the parade, and its regarding the NFL, a massive sport in this country.

NFL spokespeople have already spoken out about pushing more gun laws. Yesterday, video from Kansas City News agencies uploaded to YouTube to include the official statement from a government spokeswoman to include the sentences for both men who are in custody along with the mention at the end that there WILL be discussion coming later regarding the need to implement new gun laws.

Look at how furiously anti-gun these NFL spokespeople are now:

At 7:15 into this next video from CBS News, she announces that gun law changes will be discussed later on:

So - You can see why this is going to be a massive problem for 2nd Amendment infringement in the state of Missouri, and I have a strong suspicion this influence will spread like wildfire all across the country because its the NFL.

I don't think he's being dense about it ... it's just that our 2A Rights are under assault by the anti-gunners every second of every minute of every day.

No one single event ... it's drip, drip, drip, drip.

We must stay vigilant. We must contribute financially to those fighting on our behalf.

The anti gun zealots have-to be careful with the KC shooting because it draws a lot of attention to illegals, to thuggery and to lack of LEO support and a corrupt justice system among Soros backed DAs. Right now the majority of the U.S. public have had enough and they realize that it's not about the guns ... it's about enforcing laws already on the books.

Not only that, but this one kid who did some of the shooting ... he's talking about how stupid his decision was, he was under the influence, it was central American gang related ... I mean, imho, this incident may prove to help our pro-2A cause in the long run.

I've been hearing the same things repeatedly for at least 50 years now. Yes, there are those who want to ban guns, but the reality is that gun rights have actually gotten better.

I'm not saying that there won't be some unreasonable pushes to oppose gun rights, but it isn't time to panic.

Do you remember when people stopped watching football because of the whole taking the knee?

Whatever happened with that? Oh, that's right, started cutting into the profits. Amazing how fast people forgot about it.

Guess it was just another "thing" to do for attention.

But hey, did you see Travis and Taylor?!🥹🥰😘

Don't forget that he, took a knee, promotes the "shot" and backs gun control!

So tell me again why you watch organized sports?!

Yes, the anti's will use any excuse to use a tragedy to their advantage.

1. their goal is absolutely confiscation. They don't mind having to slowly erode our liberty to get to their end goal, it's all the same to them
2. having things remain as they are is almost as valuable to them. They get never ending votes and political capital out this.

If you are following this story and not reacting to the incident you will absolutely know that this will go away as fast as Nashville and the shooting at the church in Texas. The shooters are in the media protected class and the more its talked about the more information that they don't want you looking at comes out....

Constant and ongoing. My dollars go to ISRA, fighting Czar Prickster’s assault weapon ban.

It was a gang related shooting event, it's a good thing not more people were hurt.

That said , be very careful starting a thread specifically in response to a shooting that "this will be used to further restrict our rights"
It is a argument among the other side that gun owners care solely and only about our gun rights and that we are callous to the lives of victims in shooting events. Obviously, I don't feel it is true. Mass tragedies like that affects us as much as it affects the rest of the nation, it's always a dark day and a sad, needless loss of life. It is only doubled when we are gas light that is our fault something like that happens. We dont feel further restrictions are absolutely necessary if we are to stop these things from happening, it's a deep complex societal issue and it does need to be fixed, something we'd agree on, we just don't agree with the common narrative that it's solely lack of further gun controls fault.

I see this attack is not being used as a argument for gun control, so this thread didn't need to be started. Be careful when you start threads like this, it can make you seem only concerned about the political fallout.

True.

The media’s bias is to Prefer to publicize any event when people are killed by a Caucasian “ gun nut”.

An urban “gun thug” is a person they began to accept many years ago, blaming it on their circumstances—but not any personal responsibility.
Frequent murders apparently are accepted as part of “their” culture, ie even at wedding receptions, birthday parties when an argument develops. "Those" young men are taught that nobody should insult or disrespect them.

Nothing wrong with being concerned about the actions of violent lawless thugs being used to disarm you (which they are), but the violence is much worse in Chicago, and very few gun owners in Illinois have caved to Pritzker's "assault weapon" (overused term that the anti-2nd clowns use to scare the dumbest of the dumb) ban and gun registration order that was enacted under the pretense that all thug/gang violence would end. The good people who told Pritzker to go get F'ed are not being rounded up, and their guns are not being taken away.

Football....meh!Overpaid crybabies. Gangbangers yep....shooting at each other. We have had gangs in inner cities and beyond for decades and they cant fix it.Soooo the inanimate object becomes the target.I agree the perp doesnt fit the narrative so it will go away.If it were a tatooed hate monger well we would be discussing something else.Detroit strictist gun laws in the country and one of the highest firearm homicide rates.Criminals will do as criminals will do.

What gets me is the knee jerk reaction after these events to have stricter background checks and other restrictions which wouldn't have prevented the incident. Always got to do "something" about "gun violence" and not addressing where the real problem lies. Around here 13-18yr olds, often armed, are jacking cars at gas stations knowing there will be very little consequence if caught. Same goes for smash & grab. Lock them up.

Have you noticed how they have swept the last few of these under the rug? If they can't show photos of a white guy, they don't seem interested.

The mass shooting in KC wouldn't have been if the idiots didn't start shooting at each other while in a crowd of people.

And they loose the whole, "see something, say something.", argument when they just have revolving doors for criminals.

Mays had just got off probation for pulling a gun out after getting beat at basketball. Maybe he was a 49er's fan... Hopefully their system produces more revenue that it does reform because it doesn't look very useful in the latter...

The firearm he had was stolen as well, so if we add more new stricter laws, maybe we need to make stealing more illegal...

The Glock was found on the ground in an apparent pool of blood, near where Mays fell on the ground after he was shot, according to the probable cause statement. “Mays pulled his handgun first,” Baker said, referencing the evidence that has been gathered by investigators so far. The magazine of the Glock had six live 9mm rounds in a 15-round capacity magazine., with a live round in the chamber. A computer check conducted by police showed the handgun had been reported stolen in Kansas City, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The trans mass murderer, the media refers to as "The Nashville shooter", didn't fit their narrative either, why they hid information from the public in that case as well.

^^^This. As others have said, since it was not a planned mass attack on innocents, it is not going to have the impact that other, real mass shootings have had. Would seem to have more impact on the rights to CWC, for both sides.

One thing that really bothers me is how our nations flag has recently been drawn into usage as a tool against law abiding gun owners in the anti-2A discourse. Being lowered to half staff by POTUS for every perceived or actual mass shooting (including the current one) is nothing more than a political stunt.

This is a political move and I find it wholly inappropriate. 9/11? Of course. Memorial Day? Absolutely appropriate. Lowering Old Glory because of gang bangers at a post Super Bowl celebration? Give me a freaking break!

Our gun rights are constantly under assault and have been for many years, Not much happened in my state except finally getting a concealed carry law until the little golem that serves as governor was elected. We were inundated with new control bills this year. Guv didn't get all she wanted so is contemplating calling a special session to browbeat the legislature into giving her what she wants. Nothing addresses the user of the firearm. It's all about getting rid of guns.
