Update. Moving along nicely. They have agreed to do it. I'm just waiting on price breakdown and quotes for all of the calibers. The prices will be excellent. Start spreading the word. We'll have a Vepr buy page up on my board hopefully this week.

Approximately around that for base models. Up from there for add ons. Check out what they are going for out there, and you can see that that is a very good price. Especially considering what dealer cost is. The only ones that I've seen online lately for around $500 have been used guns.

The page should be up in the next day or so. I'm not the guy that does the web stuff. :)

I told you guys that the prices would be very good, but come on, you didn't expect them to be that good now did you? :D Now I need to sell a pile of rifles now to make this work, so PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

The price list and ordering information is on www.fbmginc.com

Mauser88,

What do you think of the skeletonized buttstock? I'm thinking about having mine done like that (KTR-03V). Does it increase the muzzle-heavy feel?

By the way, what optic is on yours?

Thanks

Mine is in .223 so very little recoil. I feel no difference with the skeletonized stock whatsoever. The red dot is a Tasco Pro-Point.

There is another way to do the rear sights like that is not as expensive a custom job. Krebs also sells the A2 sites alone. You can attach them yourself if you have the ability, or it is a pretty simple job for any decent smith. The dust covers are usually very tight, so it doesn't change zero, but if you are concerned then Krebs sends a little kit that attaches to your recoil spring retainer that tightens up the dustcover to the frame. That is also a pretty simple thing for most smiths to do. The whole site assembly runs like $50 from Krebs if I recall correctly, and installation should not be that expensive.

Do a search under my name and Krebs, I posted a review of the sight setup, and I really like it.

George, we just need to get your Couger sold. I'm going to take it with me to the CCW class I'm teaching on the 4th. I'll use it as the loaner, maybe get somebody hooked. (being a gun dealer seems to work on the same principle as being a drug dealer) :)

Before you buy one, I'd suggest you fire one first. I bought one of the very first VEPR II's five years ago and sold it a year later. They are an excellent weapon, but they are not standard AK's and if that is what you are expecting, you will be disappointed.

I've fired both the regular VEPR II and the VEPR K. Both are absolutely excellent weapons. And at the price of these thanks to the Group buy, you can pretty much buy a VEPR for only about a hundred more than an SAR... that's a good deal right there.

They look like really stout guns. I've never shot one before though. One thing I was wondering about, is i've seen some complaints that they are really front heavy, I assume due to the thicker barrel. That kind of balance is one reason why I sold my last AR-15. Just wondering how much more it is compared to a normal stamped AK.

thanks
