I was really in the mood for some Chinese today

I think Norcs are one of the better values in the 1911 world. Nice find. Do you mind me asking what it cost you.

I would love to have one . They hold their value very well since no longer imported.
My Norinco 54-1 tokarev on the other hand was made rough but shoots really good. 1000 plus rounds into it of hot tokarev round but no hiccup s. Its not a tack driver but it will put a fist sized group at 25 yrds enough to hit a mansized target in the real world.

New production and has country of origin marked. Import marks are only for milsurps.

The Norinco's are a great gun to build on. The frame and slide are 1911a1 exact copy and the plethora of parts made to fit that platform will work with it.

While the slide and frame are made of excellent steel the barrels and springs leave something to be desired. If you want a great shooter replace the barrel with a used Colt or Springfield that shouldn't cost too much since they can be found from take out barrels that someone has left over after making a match gun. Have a gunsmith or knowledgeable person replace all the springs with Colt, Wolf or other good spring kit and do a trigger job while at it. After that you will have an excellent shooter. You can always add other things to your hearts desire. Want to make a match gun go to a Kart or Briley barrel and have the gun reworked by a gunsmith known for building the type of match gun you are looking for. (IE Bullseye, IPSIC, etc.)

Here's my Norinco that I replaced the barrel with a Springfield barrel, added the hammer and beaver tail, replaced all the springs and had a trigger job done but kept the original sights and trigger.

It was priced at $450, but I buy a ton of guns from this particular shop, so they gave it to me for $400 out the door.

I'll probably keep it mostly stock. I'm going to take a closer look at the condition of the barrel lugs today and if they are not beaten up like I've seen on other examples, then I'll see how well it shoots. I will likely re-spring it though. I'm no gun smith obviously, but I'm handy enough to detail strip a 1911.

Sounds like you got it for a very decent price. I also thought about getting one way back when but I already had a box stock Springfield Armory M1911A1 so I didn't pick one up.

Generally speaking NORINCO guns are good buys. Craftsmanship lacks, but they work all right.

I almost bought one last year with extra MSG. But he sold it. I ended up getting the Kung pow 9mm with egg lowls

I have one I bought several years ago. They are exact copies of the mil-spec 1911. The only exception is the grip screws are metric. I have put about 1k rounds through it and it has proven to be a very good pistol. No ftf, fte, or any issues at all. It also has no import marks. One of my favorites.

I was able to get out and shoot 100 rounds through it yesterday. I think the mag spring is a little weak, but that's an easy fix. It shot very nice for me.

Years ago, I once owned a Norinco 1911. I shot the piss out of that gun. At least a hundred rounds a week for a couple years. Out of the box it ran as reliably as my Glocks. Never failed to feed or extract. I sold it because it being a Chinese made 1911 bugged the s**t out of me. Now, of course, I regret ever parting ways with it.

LGS has one in blue also has an American Tactical in what looks to be stainless. Temptation x 2. Norico has a real "squishy" trigger.
