The Norinco's are a great gun to build on. The frame and slide are 1911a1 exact copy and the plethora of parts made to fit that platform will work with it.
While the slide and frame are made of excellent steel the barrels and springs leave something to be desired. If you want a great shooter replace the barrel with a used Colt or Springfield that shouldn't cost too much since they can be found from take out barrels that someone has left over after making a match gun. Have a gunsmith or knowledgeable person replace all the springs with Colt, Wolf or other good spring kit and do a trigger job while at it. After that you will have an excellent shooter. You can always add other things to your hearts desire. Want to make a match gun go to a Kart or Briley barrel and have the gun reworked by a gunsmith known for building the type of match gun you are looking for. (IE Bullseye, IPSIC, etc.)
Here's my Norinco that I replaced the barrel with a Springfield barrel, added the hammer and beaver tail, replaced all the springs and had a trigger job done but kept the original sights and trigger.
