I have the luxury of being able to work remotely and shoot my airguns more or less when I please. I also have a fairly long indoor shooting lane of about 20 yards or so and being able to grab a gun and throw 10 or 20 shots down range on a whim is a blessing I very much enjoy. Well today I took a break from work and decided to sling a little lead. I did a very respectable 10 shot group with a scoped HW35E .22 and then I grabbed my HW30S .22, which also happens to be one of my oldest air rifles I own and the one that REALLY pulled me into mid to higher end tier REAL air guns.

At any rate I grabbed the little 30 and threw 10 casual shots downrange and I was absolutely gob smacked. While proud of this group I will NEVER BE ABLE TO REPEAT IT!! :D

Take care, Shoot Safe

Yes, you can do it again. Careful practice and good equipment will take you there.
Nice shooting……now go do it again.

Remember: If you think that you can or if you think that you can’t, you are always right.

Not with that attitude. The most important part of doing it the first time, is that you now know you are capable of it.

I suppose if you just stop now, it could save you significantly down the road…

I appreciate the kind words. I was being a little facetious. I have had similar groups before with various guns and will likely again. I am more taken aback with the ammo consistency in the rare times I pull something off like this. It’s not just skill once or practice once you cross a certain threshold it’s ammo and other external factors. (Keep in mind this ammo is middling at best) but it has shown to be consistent for me.

Now I am not a pellet sorter or weigher etc. and while I do run higher end stuff or even match ammo from time to time I run it as it comes out of the tin/box. I may throw away an obviously bad round but in general I run what I brung so to speak which makes groups like these pretty amazing given my skill combined with the external / mechanical factors.

Years ago, at an airgun meet, I was shooting my R7 in .177. Someone had put up some balloons at 130 yards. I thought about the range, considered the wind, took aim and popped the balloon I was aiming for.

I was very impressed with myself until I tried to pop another one and couldn't in spite of spending many pellets in the attempt! :D

Many years ago when I was a youngster, we were having a family gathering and everyone was sitting on our back porch.
A few of my uncles were talking guns and hunting so I went in my room and came out with a couple of pellet rifles. There was a wire fence about 15 yards away where I would hang targets or cloths pins. I liked to spin the cloths pins. I handed the pellet guns to my uncles and they start taking shots at the pins. Some hits, a lot of misses.
While they were shooting I went back to my room and retrieved my semi auto CO2 rifle. This one was BB only and 5 shots to paper usually resembled a sawed off shotgun blast. Not very accurate or consistent, but it was the only semi auto I ever had at that time so it was loads of fun.

I walked out on the back porch. My uncles were still taking pot shots. I raised the BB gun and fired 1-2-3 shots and spun all three cloths pins. Walked back inside and put it away and my uncles put the other guns down and went back to their BS talk. ;)

That was luck. Your grouping was just good shooting!

What diopter sight do you have on it?

I have an HW30 that I shoot with the excellent OEM open sights. I also have a Beeman R7 (same rifle, rebranded) that I shoot scoped. I just ordered an HW35E and would like to put a diopter sight on that one. I have a cheap Williams that will fit it, but would like something a little nicer...

its an Airforce TS1 adaptive rear sight.

I have several of them. They are hell for stout and besides the mounting adaptability they will also take different iris’ if so desired. Mine are all run stock Mount and iris however.

While I’ve never had issue with them moving under recoil I do usually clean the dovetails and the sight with isopropyl alcohol and use a little clear nail polish to sort of “anchor” them in place. YMMV.

Thanks for the info. I just received a new HW35E (love it!) and I will mount one the Airforce sights on it or my HW30 soon.

As for cleaning the dovetails, I found that was the crucial factor in getting scope/mounts to stay in place on my HW90. Until I degreased them thoroughly, I couldn't stop them from creeping on that monster; even the ones with stop pins. That did make me believe the lube I use is very effective though! :)

Some excellent shooting. Beats the heck out of my Red Squirrel Eradication project with my HW97K. The difference is that I miss a heck of a lot more. Impressed to say the least.
