IDAHO: Proposal Would End Permit Requirement

Idaho could become the "ninth state' to go permit-less carry if a bill drafted by Representatives Ron Nate and Heather Scott Right passes. Right now in Idaho, it is legal to carry concealed without a permit outside city limits. If their bill passes, that would expand and also include cities and thus make Idaho a permit-less carry state.

"Idaho is about 83,000 square miles. All but 650 of those miles are permitless carry. While the Gem State is an open carry state, you do need a permit within city limits for concealed carry. "We already have open carry so, to me, concealed carry makes a lot of sense," Patriot Pawn and Gun Owner Alex Joye told KTVB. It is legal in every city in the state of Idaho to openly carry a gun, but concealed - or constitutional - carry is another issue."
.

Does/will Idaho continue to issue permits for reasons of reciprocity?

Does/will permitless carry apply to non-residents?

Virginia has bill for same doing well in the General Assembly.

I'm sure the piece of work in the Governor's House will VETO anything pro-gun that comes out of the G.A. But, at least it will allow the notion to get some good exposure so that it will happen after we get rid of the current problem in the 2017 election.

Yes the permit system would remain in place. It's a strangely authored bill. It was just voted to be printed but if the language is the se as circulated earlier it allows permit less carry outside buildings, but with. City limits. (We already have essentially pitiless carry outside city limits).
