I am a big 9mm fan because it is small enough to fit in double stack mags without making the grip too big and it is still pretty powerful. It also cost much less than .40S&W so I can shoot a lot more of it.

If all ammo cost the same, whould it change what you shoot/own? I might buy a few .40s instead of all my 9mms but then again, I might not. The 9mm is a nice cartridge in its own right.

If you handload, all ammo sort of does cost the same. I reload for the revolver cals but 9mm isn't worth it because I can buy good ammo for LESS than I can make it.

.45 ACP is my hands down, or hands up as the case may be, winner. :D

I refuse to get into the .45 is better than 9mm but .40 is and .357 is argument because I don't see much of a difference with quality ammo and training.

All that aside, I like the recoil impulse, the sound, the feel, the guns chambered for it and the fact that it just ooozes American mystique. That and the fact that you are basically firing a pre-expanded hollowpoint. Nothing wrong with that.

Must feed SIG 220, must feed SIG 220. It is a hungry beast you know.

.38 Colt Super Automatic

If for no other reason than I can only think of two guns ever chambered for it.

The 1911 and the Thompson sub gun. :D

If ammo were cheaper, I would shoot my .45's more, but I would still carry my Hi (standard) cap. 9mm.

Shot placement beats caliber every time.

definitely shoot more 45 acp.

also maybe 357 sig. i think it's neat.

actually, if ammo were all cheap, i'd have a lot more guns.

41 mag? 32 naa? why not?

course, i'm the type that thinks 9mm is expensive. and i just paid $4.92 a box at natchez.

Mr. Black,
You can also get an EAA Witness in .38 Super, as well as that S&W Perfomance Center 686.

"MMMMMMM. I'm not listening...I'm not listening..."

okay, okay, but they don't count.

Especially not the S&W

Hmm...it would either be .357, .44 mag, or 10mm. The cost of the latter two has caused me to not purchase something chambered in that caliber.

My favorite would remain the same 45 Colt for hunting with a heavy bullet at 1,000-1,100 fps and for CCW 45 Colt with a 230 grain Speer Gold Dot at an average of 920 fps.
