If it actually came down to having to fight/wage war to keep your rights and freedoms would you do it? I don't mean joining the army to fight for your country, I am speaking of something far heavier. If the government decided that this was no longer a country for the people by the people would you unite and make it what it once was, would you go up in arms against a tyrannical government?

I am just wondering because I have noticed that Americans keep giving away their liberty for a little more false security, and most would simply roll over and bend to a tyrannical will.

I myself would stand and fight, but I would like to know what some others would do.

I live in Canada, and if it ever happens I am probably closer to it then you. Once they take away your rights and free will what else have you to lose?

you are about to hear a bunch of empty wagons, rattleing pretty damn loud.

there are a limited number of people in my experience that are willing to elect for armed revolt

the uneducated who think our society has no place for it
the educated who understand 2A and more importantly the ideas of government
and the over educated who feel our society has evolved pass it.

many people on here will say they belong in the second class. but its just not true. in the end they will be silent, and await a charismatic figure to deliver them from tyrany and national destruction. there is no Chez. there is no Mao, there is no Thomas Paine, in americas future.

those who could lead us, weve dismissed as crack pots, and those who want to lead us are unfit by wanting to lead.

Yes.
I know there are many people here that would say it, but yes.
I am that kind of person. Someone who is just looking for a cause to fight for. It's evident in me, and it's evident in my dad.
Thank God we're reasonably sane and temperate, or we might be terrorists!

You'll just have to accept that it's going to happen once in a while.
Honestly, I do see a lot of people here who would be willing to lay down their lives for their country. We wouldn't have this country if it weren't for people like that, and I am not under the impression that that tradition has died out.

Everyone has a limit to what they will accept. When I look around at the corruption in our government and almost more importantly in our media, it scares me. The media is really who has the power in our country, and whatever agenda they feed the sheep is what most people listen to.

That being said, things are pretty bleak in our country, but at the same time they could get much worse. I guess the one item that allows me not to get too worked up about all of this is the fact that the people that don't have the guns, are usually trying to impose their will on those of us that do have the guns. If push came to shove, WE are the ones that are armed and anybody that believes law enforcement or the armed forces would fight the people of the U.S. in some sort of civil war are crazy.

Ask any law enforcement or armed forces member and I'm betting most of them will come down on the side of the people. At least every one I have ever talked to has said so.

When you look at how far we have fallen from what the founding fathers created, it should make you shudder, become nauseated, and frustrated. But at the same time, I believe there are enough people that care, that when push comes to shove, they will lay it on the line to take back what those would take from us.

The future is sure going to be interesting. The scary thing to me is with our nation of sheep, most people are way too dependent on others or the government and they wouldn't be in a position to do anything, even if they wanted to.

I am willing to fight when the time is right.
The time is not yet right.
It could be soon.
If I lived in the U.S. of WWI, I would protest. I would get active.
I am not yet flowered. I do not yet have th capital to make my voice a boom in the hills.
Yet.
I intend to be someday.
Hopefully before it is too far gone.

Yeah, I'd do it--but it'd be tough as hell.

Back when I was in the military, it was drilled into us to never "fire on the flag." In other words, never fire on your fellow citizen.

In law enforcement, it was obviously different--and it is in THAT segment of our society that I'm worried. Way too many cops--especially at the federal level--who can or will do little other than "follow orders."

Call me what you will, but my first inclination would be to pack up and head for the mountains or the swamps--the two places I am best trained in and feel most at home. Once there, I would simply want to be left alone.

Don't want trouble. But if trouble comes looking for me and backs me into a corner, I'll use every ounce and every last bit of Uncle Sam's training and experience to bite it's damn head off.

I don't think people fully appreciate what a civil war does to the soul of a country or the soul of its occupants. Many of us here have done tours of duty and/or operations in countries embroiled in civil war. Literally seeing brother fight brother is heartbreaking beyond words.

It's a legitimate subject to ponder and discuss. But the reality is that I'd expect better than half of us to pull a France and drop our guns and run.

I've had enough fighting. Just want to do my thing and be left alone.

Tinfoil-haberdashery aside; 2Ais4U - I wouldn't be surprised if you were considered by at least some of those here to possibly be an agent provocateur. As such, I wouldn't expect too many affirmative responses to your inquiry.

Personally, I'm always skeptical of such inquiries on such open forums... But maybe that's just me...

The stage has been set for individual armed & resisting patriots to be labled Terrorists and nut jobs.

Without an organized "name" ( Sinn Fein , Minute Men , NRA :) , ) the feds will round you/us/them up while the papers call you crazy lone wolf gunmen.

Unless a critical mass was achieved where several thousand people with scoped deer rifles spontaneousely went over the edge and then met up with each other .... the rest of the country will just see a rash of unrelated violence on the television ... and then change the channel.

Oh, Look, It's Back!

Ahh, the "armed revolt" topic.

This topic used to be raised frequently here, in the late, lamented, Legal & Political forum, now simply known as Legal.

This is clearly a political topic rather than a "guns, gun ownership, gun rights, gun control, etc." topic.

I can understand how a new member might well pose this question -- in fact it's almost a requirement.

The site does have a search feature, which can be supplemented by using Google and adding the phrase "site:thehighroad.org" to whatever search terms you're looking for.

A reasonable search of this site will reveal all manner of similar discussions in the past.

If you really want to have this discussion "fresh and new," then you'll have to open it on our sister site, Armed Polite Society (or APS for short), as we no longer condone political discussion topics here.

Read various stickies for more information.
