Inspiration for this topic came out of another thread in the autoloader section.

If your gun was a car (or truck), what would it be? And why?

Example:

Glock 19 is the Toyota Corolla of guns. Affordability. Absolute reliability. Practicality.
Winchester 30-30 is the F150 of guns. Nothing fancy. Gets the work done. Durable.
AK-47 is the Honda Accord of guns. Bolt the hood shut and drive it.

Seems like a version of this has been done before, only it was which fast food restaurant is your gun...or something like that.

Ready. Set. Go.

My SIG P-226, 228 and 229 pistols are just like my Chevy trucks. Blocky, functional, utterly reliable, nothing fancy, go anywhere, don't attract attention, get the job done.

My Glocks are like the Toyota Tercel my wife bought after we were first married... worked fine, boring looks, but I sure didn't want anyone I knew to ever see me driving it...

My finest Winchester Model 70 Featherweight is like an old friend's '68 Ferrari 365 (Daytona) -- classic lines (Fioravanti/Pininfarina could've designed it) -- sleek, fast, powerful... a design that doesn't need improvement.

My old HK USP is like my old Chevy Tahoe. Clunky, brick-like, lots of annoying features, but the darn thing is sturdy and just keeps running.

The MAC1911 would be the best car Turkey could make. Maybe one that hasn't even been made yet.

Glock 32 (357 Sig) is like a Mustang convertible, "quick", cost more than other options, not for everybody and I've got both.

If my guns were like my vehicle they would all have the GMC logo except my 2 rather lonesome ARs. Like drobs said, they would be Wranglers. It's been well over 20 years since I have owned a car of any brand.

You hit the nail on the head with that one, except the F150 has to be a 1995 or older, with a 300 straight six, four or five speed manual, and 4x4 with manual locking hubs! My 1894 is currently hanging in the back window of my 1994 F150 that is so equipped, and it really does fit the description.

I wish my VEHICLES were more like my guns! Then, all I’d have to do was put fuel in them and occasionally give them a cleaning.

Only thing is my guns are mostly black and I prefer white cars.

Those break down too often.
Lol . There are MANY taxi cab with 300-500k miles on them (not counting countless idle hours) . Most were police cruisers before that. The Ford 8.8 rear is great, the Ford 4.6 was gutless but a great engine, the tremec 5 speed was solid but clunky. The 4r75 auto was good too. The plastic intake manifold left a lot be desired and the self removing spark plugs were an unwelcome upgrade but they really are hard to kill despite many LEO and cab driver trying their hardest. Those cars are absolutely flogged every day but still going strong. Its basically a Mustang/F150 v8 setup. The half ton trucks to this day have the same rear end as that little light crown vic. My 400 HP 5.0 F150 has the same 8.8 rear....so your not breaking much with the 225-260 HP the 4.6 put out Same for the caprice...puny but long lasting.

I have nice guns and I have 2 hi point and a few taurus . I have a POS 79 F150 that you could lose a small child through the floorboard and I have nice cars and trucks. I DD an 04 mach one that's on its last legs from road salt I also have an 86 and 93 fox bodies. And trucks from 66 to 21. Amd a wrangler that was on its last legs when it left the moparfiatbenzrenoult factory.

Guns are like cars in that for the most part they all work like they were designed to if your lucky and if your not lucky they simply don't work. Problem is when people buy a hi-point for 200 dollars and compare it to a 1k dollar gun. Same for cars. You can't expect a 30k dollar car to compare to a 100k one.

Cars are NOT like guns in that nothing today on any modern car is unchanged from 30 years ago much less over 100. And if you resurrect an unchanged car from "the good old days" it would be a pathetic reminder of how far we have come.

Well, not all of us are taking this that seriously. The use of metaphors when creating an analogy helps introduce elements such as nostalgia, sentiment or other emotions to make comparisons that'll be remembered and facilitate understanding. Just a simple way of explaining things, maybe aiding the reaching of a conclusion, usually done in a light-hearted manner.

None of us here truly believe guns are "like" cars or vice versa.

I always thought Glocks were more like this.
I sure miss the ol' CVPI. Way more fun to drive than the Explorer (except through mountain passes in winter). Although a buddy works for an SO and he's got a nice Charger.

But, the new generation is still creating humorous stuff with the current incarnation of patrol vehicles.

I know. Its just always been kind of off to me how guns sell so well year After year despite never actually breaking down and no real innovation. Lol. There are every few TV from 30 years ago. You can't give away a tube TV. I drive my 66 or even 85 c10 (and it has a vortec from 2000) and I'm happy but EVERYONE else in my family is saying why the hell would you want to do that to us or yourself..... lol. Guns baffle me. And I sure do my part to keep the industry alive but every one I buy I get home and put it on the safe and say.....I didn't need that. Lol

And yeah the cruisers are comical. Here in the mountains we have f150 and Durango for both our county and city guys mostly. A few exploder.... we had the vic and chargers before. A few impala but I only knew of 2. My 2 trooper buddies are still mostly in charger ( and carry a 229 in 357 sig) but with Mopar killing the v8s id say they all switch but I don't know what they will go to. Most don't want the turbo Ford interceptor (even though it's faster than the v8). The troopers had caprice and a Beretta 96 before that.

Today the only v8 car made domestic is the mustang or vette. Camaro and charger/ challenger are dead. Mustang is 2door. Vette is over 100k and 2 door.... Be interesting to see what they go to. I'm not sure why they think they have to have a v8 anyway. A new 4 cylinder turbo Chevy 1500 has more HP AND Tq than my v10 ford or vortec 454 from 2000s. And if they get double digit MPG they best my two there as well. Lol. Id guess f150 4 door.

Ford pro is a great backer of our police forces. I have two local emergency vehicle builders and see a lot of work Ford puts into it. They actually design and make the laptop mounts, gun mounts and such at Ford pro. Same for the ambulance guys. They do a lot of work on R&D.

Plus they didn't lose all my tax dollars with a bailout like the 12 billion Governmemt motors lost and the several billion Mopar lost and STILL sold to a foreign country.
