Illinois House to consider ban worse than Cal's infamous SB-23

by Templar223 The long touted number of FOID cards is 1,500,000 in Illinois. Let's assume only 1/3 have a weapon that would fall under HB 2414 and they are not about to hand over high dollar weapons without compensation. That would be 500,000 of us. Currently the Illinois Department of Corrections (Who did they ever correct by the way?) is housing 80,000 inmates (80,001 once gun hater George Ryan is convicted.) This means the prison system would have to be increased by 625% just to accommodate previously law abiding gun owners. It costs just over $14,000 to house a prisoner for a year. The budget for prisons would have to go from $1,190,000,000 to over $9,000,000,000 a year. Staffing at prisons would move from 14,000 corrections officers (corrections, ya, right) to 87,500. Look, Rod "the gun" Blagojevich can't even find $3,200,000,000 to meet existing obligations much less find another $7,000,000,000 to fund this bill.
Blago will just take the money from the teachers pension fund like he did 1-2 years ago to balance the budget. Remember to the tune of $2 BILLION!!

HB2414

I urge you to contact your representative today and demand that they vote against HB2414 and any of the Chicago political machines other absurd gun bills. Let's be honest, they have been and continue to be gun grabbers. Look at Blagojevich's original campaign and his statements on gun control and raising FOID card costs. Yet they want to grab them from the wrong people. Let's demand that instead of making our legally owned guns illegal, and thereby making us criminals, that they start putting the real criminals in jail first.

To those who have heard "it will never pass...." here is a response I received from one of our downstate rep's:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding HB 2414. The Governor and Mayor of Chicago Richard Daley are in strong support of this bill. There are 40 legislators that have already signed on as co-sponsors of this bill.

As it only takes 60 votes to pass legislation from the Illinois House, they are very close to having the votes to pass HB 2414. Last year, this bill failed by only 3 votes, so it will be close.

As I am a member of the NRA and enjoy hunting I do not support this bill and I will not vote for it. It is poorly drafted.

Sincerely,

Representative Bill Black

Three votes last time.......... Don't sit back on this one ladies and gentlemen. You need to mail / call / email your reps and let them know your watching them and their voting records.

(Emphasis above mine)

Is it just me, or is it time the gun industry enacts a voluntary ban on the sale and service of all firearms to the State of Illinois, similar to what Barrett did with California, but with all firearms. I wonder if the cops would start to roll over a bit if they new they couldn't get dependable sidearms or ammunition.

Obviously, the State of Illinois is generally hostile towards firearms owners and manufacturers. Why should we arm our enemies any further? Why should we continue to serve tyrants?
