Does anyone have an up to date list of the guns Illinois is requiring to register with the Illinois State Police. Apparently the registration deadline is going to happen before the courts stop the law.
The M-1 Garand & standard fixed-mag SKS seem OK (whatever that means!) under this law. Earlier versions of the bill that didn't pass included by-name and type specific exceptions listing the aforementioned weapons and even the Mini and non-paratrooper M-1 Carbine. But as it reads to many, you answered your own question regarding the "mag possibilities". My own favorite "LGS", run by my now-retired favorite Dentist, isn't selling any semi-auto rifle in state that can accept a box mag whatsoever....erring on the side of caution. I can't blame them a bit. What about the Garand and SKS, both with fixed magazines?
Mini 14 and 30 are pretty benign except for the mag possibilities.
You know as well as I do that one of the things about IL-ANNOY politics is the LACK of transparency.Without resorting to hyperbole, Illinois is one giant cluster. I'm still waiting for he state to respond to the order for a COMPLETE list of guns covered under the new law. By name and model. (my high school trap kids just might all be using assault weapons)
Thanks,I agree with you 100%. I asked the same question about hicaps, and it seems that we can keep any mags we already own. Just like CA, its probably difficult to prove exactly when you acquired them.
But, it doesn't seem like mags need to be registered (except .50s).
