Last week I made my round of different gun & pawn shops just to see what's new. The owner of one of the pawn shops is a woman around the age of 40 or so, and if I was single and 20-25 years younger, well you get the picture. Anyway I have been in the market for a 22mag rifle for some time but other than buying a new rifle they just seemed to be none to be had. Well I spied one rifle in the rack and from the distance of counter and back wall rack it looked very similar to a Ruger 77. It turned out to be a Marlin 22mag, bolt action, seven(7) round mag. Beautiful stock with very nice checkering. Only issue was the mag was in rough shape but nothing that a wire brush and cleaning would not take care of. I am and always will be the type to arguer the price just for the fun of it. Wound up paying $180.00 for it but not a real issue because this is one that goes into the KEEP category. Had every intention of walking to back of property to test fire over the weekend but think I poisoned my self Friday night on Taco's that I prepared. Spend more time over the porcelain pony than anywhere else. When I think I can get more than 20 ft away I intend to was few rounds. In one way I wish I could find a cure for the IMPULSE Buying but at time that has got a few real deals for me.

Lol,....too much information :)

I'm pretty guilty of that too...I purchase a lot of guns that I never needed I knew until I saw them...
Like the new sp101 .22lr... The Ruger single six and sp101 .357 mag I own just aren't up to the job, If I think about it long enough...lol...

Really though, I have found that asking myself..."how much money will I lose on this if I wake up tomorrow and come to my senses" really works to curb the bad buys.

I have attacked my impulse buying from just about every angle I can think of. I told my wife that we did the sacrifice thing for kids and now after all of them are grown, have their own family its time we buy what we want and not just what we need. One of my best impulse buy's cost me around $350.00 wound up the revolver that had a value around $5000.00 I sold it for cash $2500.00.

I'm not sure if you are more interested in discussing your new rifle or your......

I am an impulse buyer too, I manage to sometimes justify it by keeping a list of guns I want (it always has about 10 on it), so as long as I buy something from my list its not impulse....

Truth is if I don't stay out of gun stores and off gunbroker I can't control it. At least for now I can afford it.

Definate proud of New Marlin

Guess I was upset that when I decided to cook thing would come back and bite me. The day I brought it home , it went thru the cleaning loggin in on books. Pictures to follow soon Very proud of the rifle that I bought and still wish I was 25yrs younger. (well maybe 15) Gun shop going out of business last week I stuck like a vulture. Broungh home a beautiful oak cabinet, not the pressed materals but a real solid built cabinet. Wife looked it over and first words out of her mouth. YOU DON'T HAVE TO FILL IT (What she don' know)

Yeah, I know about the impulse and pawn thing! About 2 years ago my buddy took me up to this pawn, didn't know it existed. I bought a 1935 Beretta .32, nice pistol, even had the Italian holster with it. Than about 6 months ago, I took a short drive, ended back up there, "Just to look"... right. I spied a S&W revolver in the case, asked to look at it, clerk asked me to wait a minute, he had to finish a sale. I looked up the shelf from the Smith, there laid a Colt, I could tell by the grips, a nice 95% Trooper .38 Spl, came with original box, etc, got it for $425 OTD. Then one day I remembered that Smith, grabbed some cash and left. The Smith was still there, a 1937 .38-44 5", about 75%, still lying there waiting on me. Guess you know the rest of this story... that sucker shoots better than I can. I took it to my smith and had him clean it up inside and re-lube it, I've still got some cash hidden away, but I'm staying the hell away from that pawn for awhile... even told the owner to 86 me if I came back within a month!
