I like to stay around the lower end of the scale when setting up a load. I refer to four or five reference books and online. I have successfully replicated a "Managed Recoil" load using 110gr bullets; however, the last time I prepared this load, I mistakenly took the min load for IMR-4350 showing in Lyman's book of 49.7gr and rounded it to 50gr in my IMR-4831 load. It shot beautifully, and gave me one-inch groups at 100yds. (that's something less than 2") Referring to the book this time, I discovered my mistake and noticed the measure should have been 52.3 min load, so I went with 53gr. That load didn't shoot as well for me, yielding 3" and 4" groups.

I'd like to go back to 50 grains, and am seeking guidance on this. I am aware that light-loading a slow burning powder can have adverse results in a large cartridge. I also went to Hodgdon's website, and they don't even list IMR-4831 for this 110gr bullet; it's there for the 130gr, of course. What to do?

Light loads of slow burning powders can produce pressure spikes under certain conditions, and therefore are not recommended.

So its probably best to not do it. I'd try some different (faster burning) powders to see if you can get better results with a recommended load.

Hodgdon didn't start with IMR4831 until 120 grain bullets. Not that it matters, except being closer to 110. There is one IMR4831 100 grain load on Reloader's Nest of 59.5.
However, I don't think 2.3 low is enough to matter using 4350. The 120 grain load starts at 51.5 of IMR4831. Kind of doubt 10 grains of bullet will make a whole lot of difference. Probable that Hodgdon just didn't test a 110 with IMR4831. They did with H4831. You could contact 'em and ask if they have an IMR 110 grain load. http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/contact
Quit making up you own data too. There is no rounding in reloading.
