In general, what's the longevity of pistol brass?

WTH!

I've only seen three gun collections that big in my life--1) NRA museum, 2) FBI firearms unit (used to be part of tour when they had tours), 3) ATF collection/library.
The Remington Museum called about one of my rifles back around 2004/5: a Model of 1934 in 7mm Mauser with the Nicaraguan crest and a US flaming bomb proof. Pretty rare. They wanted me to donate it.

Yeah, right. Wasn’t even tax deductible. 🙄

Actually, I probably would've donated the rifle.

I did donate my Dad's WW2 merchant marine uniforms and such to Mystic Seaport museum. They didn't have a good collection of such pristine items. I could've taken deduction but didn't.

In arranging it, the curator asked why them and not Merchant Marine Academy. I asked if he'd ever actually seen that government run museum? He essentially said, yes I understand now. (They aren't in same league.)

I shoot range brass in .38, .357 and 9mm. Haven't really tossed too many yet. The primer pockets get loose a few at a time and are scarped.
That's my criteria too. I de-prime by hand and if its too easy to pop the primer I toss the case. I've got 45 ACP cases that have been resized so many times you can barely read the head stamp. The only cases I've had split are 38/357 cases.
