I normally order from Brassman or Diamondk brass. Love Brassman, but he didn't have any in stock at the time. DiamonK brass is good, but their shipping costs result in brass costing more.
I looked around the internet and saw Lonestar Brass in Texas with shipping rates lower than DiamondK brass. I decided to purchas some 45acp brass and 380 brass from Lonestar brass recently.
Shipping was not as quick a Brassman, suprising as Lonestar Brass is in the same state I reside in.
The 380 brass was excellent with no issues whatsoever. The 45 acp brass however, that was a different story. Every company gives the disclaimer about small pistol primers, but I've never had more than a handful of small pistol primers from Brassman or DiamondK. This time though, the number of small pistol primer 45 acp brass was very high. Out of my first 100 cases, 28 were small primers. I decided to sort out the brass to see how many small primer brass was in the mix. About 1/3 of a batch of 250 were small primers. It was a bit dissapointing, but they did have their disclaimer.
The lesson in all this is to stick with what you know, Brassman includes the cost of shipping, ships fast, and in the realm of 45 acp brass, their rate of large to small primers is great.
Not being a schill as I have nothing to gain on this, but now that I've experienced other once fired brass purchases, I have to say I regret not waiting and purchasing from a known (to me) vendor.
Also, I wonder if we will be seeing more and more small pistol primer 45acp? I would hope not. My firearms don't have any issues with either primer, but when reloading, it can get frustrating.
I'm sure that for any other type of brass it wouldn't be a problem, since my 380 acp brass was excellent.
