So I took my handgun buddies from work today to the NRA range in Fairfax (indoor 50 yards). There was the normal assortment of 45 acp's and 223 M-forgeries. I'm not a pistol guy, so after they unloaded the 1st round out of my 7mm Rem Mag indoors, I was as hooked as they were. Magnums indoors = quite a bit of amusement. Good times were had by all :D

Hearing peoples' reactions when you uncase a huge rifle with a muzzle brake at an indoor range is always fun.

This makes me glad they seperate the pistol and rifle bays at my indoor range.

I always get comments when shooting my 18" barrelled M1A scout w/ Muzzle brake. I honestly wish it was quieter as I don't mean to disturb people, but eh, it's what the rifle came with and I do appreciate the reduced muzzle rise for follow up shots. Personally I just look at it as good concentration practice when somebody is blasting aways with a short barrelled 12 gauge in the adjacent lane at my indoor range.

Double hearing protection is a must, and no muzzle break for me. Its unfair to others and I cant justify it

There have been times when I was sure the fillings in my teeth were going to rattled loose. :what:

There is usually a BOOM when I fire the Winchester three inch shells in the magnum slugs. Part of the boom is the 5 foot flame two feet thick that comes out of the muzzle and reaches almost past some of the pistoleers's paper targets in the stalls near mine.

Usually I try to fire this weapon's mag rounds for a bit of fun when no one else is in the range. The last time I did with others shooting, just about everyone stopped shooting LOL. It's just a bit too much even with recoil pad on shoulder, thick clothing etc. All of the rounds pass through the first hole made in paper with no drop.

Then again the same can be said for the really BIG BOREs and rifles that pack it when shot... Occasionally I had serious doubts that backstop is capable of absorbing the hit.

The worst thing about shooting big is the heat. It takes a while to cool them bad boys down.

This is a big reason I like the Nagant. I love showing up when the other rifle bays are taken up by some guy with an AR with it's sharp little crack, and a .17, my buddy will pull out his M44 with a '74-style muzzle brake. :D

It's fun to watch the smallbore shooters get huffy. ;)
