I never heard of "Glock Leg" before. What we do have here are some gang bangers who love to carry these little 25 and 32 cal pistols tucked into their trousers just behind the belt buckle. When they get excited and angry they grab for the piece and guess what. Yep, they have done some serious injury to themselves. Mishandling anything can cause injury so y'all just be careful no matter what you do.

A close friend of mine did this with a long slide glock 9mm. His holster was an xd gear loop type piece of trash. Not to get confused, the xd holster fit the glock very well. What happened here is that the loose end of his belt ended up in the trigger as he pushed it home in the holster. I blame (as does he after long discussion) 2 key points, the holster, and the gun. If there were a decocker this would not have happened. The extra resistance would be easy to feel and would prevent the ND. The holster also allows entirely too much motion around the top allowing the belt to get in the trigger guard during holstering. If the holster had a wider profile top to bottom it would have kept the belt out as well. Moral of the story, buy a gun that can be rendered safe and mate it to a holster that keeps extra stuff out of the way.

Or reverse the direction of the belt so the loose end is on ther other side of the body. ;)

Any gun can be rendered safe: Drop the magazine lock the slide to the rear.

I've know two people who have AD/ND with a DA pistol (Sig in one case, Beretta 92 in the other) while hosltering in similar circumstance. No gun is idiot proof, just idiot safer.

Many years ago I walked into the shop of a custom 1911 builder. This was a little one-man operation where the gunsmith was working in the showroom that had a glass cabinet full of sample guns on display. Even though the prices were far out of my reach at the time he was gracious enough to let me handle a few of his guns. He encouraged me to dry fire, giving me a taste of a < 3lb 'think it and the hammer falls' trigger.

He then proceeded to tell a story of one of his customers, a police officer, shooting himself in the leg with the custom 1911 this gunsmith built. Apparently the cop admitted to flicking off the safety during the draw and putting his finger on the trigger while the gun was still pointed at his leg.

Bad training/habits will get you.

I almost had 1911 toe removal when I was the score keeper at an IDPA match and a competitor loaded his gun, put it into his holster and fired a round a foot away from my foot and an inch from the SO.

No, it didn't! As you yourself state:

The holster also allows entirely too much motion...

What happened here is that the loose end of his belt ended up in the trigger as he pushed it home in the holster.

No, what happened here was your friend is an idiot.

I blame (as does he after long discussion) 2 key points, the holster, and the gun.

I blame your idiot friend. He used a holster NOT DESIGNED FOR THE GUN, that allowed too much movement.

If there were a decocker this would not have happened.

Yes, it would have. Your idiot friend would've forgotten to decock the gun, resulting in a lighter trigger pull than the offending Glock had.

The extra resistance would be easy to feel and would prevent the ND. around the top allowing the belt to get in the trigger guard during holstering. If the holster had a wider profile top to bottom it would have kept the belt out as well. Moral of the story, buy a gun that can be rendered safe and mate it to a holster that keeps extra stuff out of the way.

Blahblahblah. IF your friend wasn't an idiot, it wouldn't have happened. Blaming objects instead of recognizing and acknowledging your friends idiocy isn't helping anyone.

What is it about Glock threads that bring out the worst in folks. I don't get it.
