Is Canda going to ease up on gun control?

Got an NRA newsletter today, that had these two quotes

"The Canadian governments "crime-busting joke of a billion-dollar federal firearms registry" may be dumped before the upcoming election."
-National Post (Canada)

"Eight of the ten provinces - Quebec and Prince Edward Island being the lone [gun control fanatics] ?Ewill not prosecute registry violations."
-National Post (Canada)

No direct link to the original stories. Is Canada realizing what a total folly gun control is then? That is good news that they are not prosecuting. Even better news they may dump the whole shebang. Proof that while not only is it a violation of our humans rights and the first step to genocide, but it is also an unworkable liberal pipedream.

It's not about gun control. Just examine the history of the activities of the Canadian federal government over the past 45 years. The real issue is establishing the absolute and unchallenged supremacy of the federal government. There is no such thing as "States Rights" in Canada but the Federal government is still working to inculcate their complete authority in the hearts and minds of their subjects.

The elite ruling class in Ottawa is every bit as divorced from the rest of the country as the ruling families of Mexico.

Gun registry proves a hot campaign issue
CBC Saskatchewan [Canada]

"The federal election has reignited anger in southeast Saskatchewan
over the smouldering issue of gun control. Indeed, the federal gun
registry is the most important issue in the campaign for the people
in the small community of Redvers. Implementing the firearms registry
was expected to cost $2 million, but the figure has ballooned to $1
billion and counting -- and that's what angers people in Redvers.
People in the town said they won't vote Liberal this time around. The
renewed debate over the firearms registry may be an advantage for the
controversial independant candidate in the riding." (06/15/04)
