Is FP-10 better than CLP?

IMO, FP-10 is better than CLP, either the GI surplus stuff or the commericially-sold Break Free CLP. In my experience it's a better lubricant, MUCH better cleaner, and from test results I've read online, is a better rust preventer.

Note that while FP-10 is better than CLP IMO, CLP is still a good lube and rust preventer. I've never thought much of it as a cleaner, though.

What does FP-10 smell like? Is the odor, for instance, something that will drive the wife out of the bedroom when I clean guns there? My BreakFree doesn't, but my EEZOX does drive her away.

FP-10 is the best smelling CLP by far for women (real men love the smell of napalm and Hoppes inthe morning.......).

It smells like cinnamon. It's scent was formulated to be friendly to deer and wildlife for hunting applications.

I'm actually doing a little informal corrosion testing of FP-10 and CLP at the moment. It is still too early to see if either has a significant advantage; but with a week of 80%+ humidity and temp ranges in the high 70s to low 90s, we should know soon enough.

Reading the Internet (which is fraught with its own peril), FP10 appears to have additives that help it continue to lubricate at high heat - something CLP lacks. In unscientific side by side comparison, the FP10 may be a little slicker but not enough I can tell the difference with any surety.

Neither seems to do well at cleaning. They both meet the military spec of removing at least 80% of powder residue; but neither one does a great job as a bore cleaner.

If my little homemade corrosion tests show that FP10 can provide a similar level of protection, I will probably go with it on the basis of the additives it uses to provide lubrication at higher heats.

FP-10 has a faint cinnamon smell. It's not strong and shouldn't prove to be a wife repellent.
