Is it safe to fire a 1920 Winchester 1894 carbine?

BTW, the gun in the ad you posted has a 20 inch barrel and therefor, i believe, is not a Carbine. if i'm correct, (and if i'm not someone please correct me) the carbines were 16" barrels.

The differance between the rifle & the carbine was not based on barrel length.

The differance was in the rifles steel forend cap vis the carbines forend band, front sight mounting, and a few other details.

You "could" have a Winchester 16" rifle, and also a 24" carbine, I suppose.

Modern 94's with 20" barrels are considered carbines.

Thanks for that clarification. That's how you end up with the Winchester "short rifles" I suppose.

Thanks for the info ... I didn't know that about the difference between carbine and rifle. I need to get some more books on Winchesters. I just read the biography of John M Browning, which is what led to the need for an 1894. Now I've got to find a way to get an 1873, and maybe someday an 1866.
